Japanese RPGs only tend to be pseudo-RPGs with most real role-playing dynamics completely omitted. Compared to games like Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate, and other western games (mostly made by Bioware, I suppose), Japanese RPGs fall very short.
