Card Man

In Memoria there is supposedly a man you can play cards with, does anyone know where this guy is?

Isn`t that hades?. Maybe i`m wrong though.

Na ive defeated Hades and done all the stuff with him but i read on of the walkthroughs that ffshrine did but i cant find him, he is supposed to have rare cards I think

i found him. I dont remember the place were. I t was before Hades and the water place. U cant see him, u must go somewhere and a ! will apear. He wil tell u he is the ghot of a great card gamer but beilive me he owns us all:)

There are actually several Card Master ghosts in Memoria with whom you can play against. Be aware though, that the further you go into Memoria, the harder they get (the hardest being the one on the ladder up to the realm where Zidane steps ‘off into space’ into Crystal World – he only uses powerful Dark Matter cards).

I can’t remember exactly the locations where all of them can be found, however, just keep inspecting as much of the background in Memoria as possible, until you find ‘!’ spots (which are where the Card Masters are found). Speak with them and agree to play to start a game. Be careful though, as they are very sharp, and use powerful (and rare) cards too.

I never knew all this, I might have to go check now. Damn, and here I thought I did EVERYTHING.

Cheers people but there is a problem I found one of them ! right at the start of Memoria but nothing happens. Can anyone explain

Although I said in my previous post to press X and agree to play to start a card game with the ghosts in Memoria, in hindsight, I think you have to push the square button instead (as if challenging a normal NPC) to actually play against them. I couldn’t remember exactly, as it’s been a while since I last played FFIX.

The 4 Card Phantoms are Defense, Strong, Rare, and Master. You find them in the rooms right before you fight those shrine guardians. Except for maybe Strong. I think it includes it, but I’m not sure.

When i first went to memoria on my first playthrough, I wondered why there was a ‘!’ but no item. Of course I didn’t think of playing cards with them…

I think there is one in the room after you walk up the stairs at the start of Memoria, with the floating candlesticks. (dodgy memory)

No, that’s a where you save! Or an item. It’s been a loooooong time since I made it that far…

The Master Phantom is the first ! you see and he’s in the gear room before the first guardian. You can’t only play him when you’ve beaten the other three. Dragoon Master is right in that Defense and Rare are in the screens before the second and fourth guardians, and Strong i think is two or three screens before the water guy.
