since a lot of people totally don’t get how to do this.
download media player classic: http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/
download an xvid binary: http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml
drag and drop the advent children avi file into MPC. go to file -> load subtitles and navigate to the .ssa file.
np !

you can also download the vlc player (
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ ). open the programme, click on file- open file (NOT quick open), select the avi, tick the "subtitle options" box, click settings and browse to the srt file and open it.
if one of those methods doesn’t work for you, try the other. if neither work, ask in here.
also, stickying.

read faster, then. the subtitles are only going at the rate of the dialogue!

I’m pretty certain that as long as DivX has a subtitles options you should be OK.

Okay I’ll try then.
EDIT: I totally didn’t get that. I suck at computers. Could someone give me like a link to a script or something?

honestly i’d just download vlc and try it, it’s probably a lot simpler.

silly ;(
also, maester yazoo, you might be able to fiddle with the timings or get slower subtitles or something if you look around i guess.

Posting this because I had trouble with getting Sarah’s way to work 🙁
DivX (http://www.divx.com/)
DivX Subtitle Displayer (http://www.cooolsoft.com/dsd.htm)
Download both because I’m fairly certain DivX comes with the codec pack =/ which lets you view .avi files.
Open the .avi file in Divx Subtitle Displayer then load up the subtitle file in DSD AS WELL

divx does NOT let you view all avi files. it only lets you view avi files encoded with divx.

What do you recommend I do now?

BUT, it works for FF7:AC and without all the shitty subtitle errors.

where are you getting the .ssa file or the srt file for the subtitles. as far as i could see none of the links had them and neither did any of the downloads that were with those links. if you could tell me where you got these files or when i could get them it would be much apreciated.

they should be available on bittorrent or sth. else ask someone you know who has it to send it via msn/ irc.

i gota VCD from my mate with the subtitles & it’s pretty good quality
Just wanna ask if the DVD is letterboxed, cause mine is not of course…and if it is "blocky" in some places, like the backdrops and stuff not properly detailed.
Or does this mean the VCD is crap
Or does it mean I should play it on a smaller TV?

as far as i can recall the backgrounds were very detailed throughout. your vcd must be poor quality or something.
