I have just started a petition in an attemp to get FF Tactics released in Europe and anywhere else that it has not been released yet.
Here is a link if you wish to sign it:
Release FF Tactics in Europe (http://www.gopetition.com/online/7131.html)

I really don`t think a petition would make them release it on the PS1 in Eurpoe. Even if you manage to get a load of people, i think it`s a lost cause.

I don’t get it, the first Tactics had this awesome storyline then the one on GBA was very weak.

I really don’t think a petition will change anything. FF Tactics will never be released in PAL, partially because of Sony’s belief that European gamers perfer sports and action titles – not RPGs (marketing surveys they conduct seem to support that attitude). Not to mention the PSX/PS1 is essentially a dead console as far as Sony is concerned.

Plus, as FFT was published by Square Electronic Arts in the US, a company which no longer exists (after Square’s merger with Enix) the publishing rights are up in the air.

And, as the game was released in the US over six years ago, I seriously doubt FFT will now ever find it’s way into PAL, unless Square Enix decides to make a remake of it on the PS2 (who knows, with FFXII being set in the same world as FFT and FFTA they may decide to release it as a tie-in).

But I doubt that will ever happen.

Really, if you want to play FFT that bad, mod your PSX and import the US version (that is what I did years ago). There are plenty of US NTSC copies for sale on eBay all the time, and they’re not too expensive either.

I didn’t kill any hope, more like destroying unrealistic expectations. Really, FFT is an old game, on a console that is considered pretty much dead by the manufacturer, with little market value in the grand scheme of things.

Yes, it is a brilliant game, but as Square Enix is a business who’s main objective is to make money (like all businesses), anything they release is generally in their best financial interests, not neccessarily fulfilling the desires of the consumer (aka, the player). Therefore, as Europe is pretty much considered unprofitable as a market for releasing RPGs, FFT will probably never come to PAL.

Yes, it is unfair, and I don’t agree with it either. I would have loved to play a proper PAL release of FFT instead of having to import a more expensive NTSC version. But, the brutal reality is that a PAL FFT release will almost never eventuate I’m sorry to say. Therefore, in my opinion, although petitions for a PAL release are to be commended for at least trying to make a change in policy, it’s likely they probably will not make too much of a difference.

The petition will not work, No one will read it or take it seriously, Neither will Square, but It would be nice if they released it with something else that didn’t come out here, I wouldn’t mind playing it =/
