FF7 remake?

no doubt this is old news to most if not all of you, but ive heard word of a ff7 remake for ps2. i heard of this about a year back or more, but so far have seen nothing in terms of news regarding it. Does anyone know if its in production?

A.) Square released an FFVII Tech Demo for the upcoming Playstation 3 a while back

B.) Square will not release FFVII for PS2 — why would they when the PS3 is on the horizon anyway?

If it were ever to be made it would be a long time away since Square enix have a lot of other things going on right now.

I watched a video interview of SE a week ago, the interviewer asked the one being interviewed(forgot name, but it was either the CEO of Square or another high up) if he has any plans to do a remake of FF7 on the PS3, he said he would love to do a remake someday but atm he has way too many projects lined up, so if it does happen it won’t be for another several years.

I will say, thinking about it recently, that i think we`ll see FFVII sometime in the closing stages of the next gen consoles.
