Question about materia

I’m currently playing throught the game for only my third time and I forgot to pick up the Ramuh materia in the jockey’s locker room after coming up from Coral Prison for the Chocobo race. Is there anyway to go back and get it?
Also, does materia gain AP when it is equipped on a character that is not in the active party? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’m not sure if doing that entitles you to go into the Jockey locker room does it?

When i got a Chocobo and starting racing it i was amazed at the GP gained from winning, all those hours of playing Super Dunk for nothing…

…yeah. Um well I do not think you can go back and get it, although I have not played FFVII in a while….

He’s good for in the Cave of the Gi if you haven’t gone to Gonaga to get Titan and D. Blow (of which my lvl 52 cloud does 5000 dmg with)

SMALL SPOILERS AHEAD

Actually, you can still get Master Summon materia even without Ramuh – by defeating Emerald WEAPON later in the game (no easy task), nets you the Earth Harp.

Give this to the Kalm Traveller (the guy in a house in Kalm who earlier in the game says how content with the world he is) and he’ll hand over the three Master materia.

Incidentally, Ramuh is very effective against mechanical enemies (Carry Armour in the Underwater Reactor for instance), and for a good deal of the game is quite powerful, although eventually his strength will be a lot less than other spells, such as Bahamut/Bahamut Neo/Bahamut ZERO etc). It is still a useful spell though.
