Final Fantasy IX was released just before the PlayStation 2 – within a month or so. The same thing is happening here. It won’t be ‘pushed back’ to the PlayStation 3, because to do that they would have to completely recode the game – it would take them AT LEAST another 12 months. It will be released on the PlayStation 2, next year, around the same time as the PS3 launch.

Yeah but that gives you the feeling that sale numbers may drop because of the new generation consoles, but yet again not many people will have them. I have seen some trailers for FFXII and they are certainly on the PS2. The FF titles to be released on the PS3 will be games like the new FFVII and FFX-3 which i heard something about from square-enix and is suppose to be base around Rikku.

Yes, because there is no backward-compatibility for the PS3 when it comes to the PS2 and PSX games like there is between the PS2 and PSX games.

Besides GameSpot, www.ff12.com tells you the platform as well…also, it’s coming out 16th of March next year in Japan apparantly…which shows how out-of-date the FFShrine site is (Summer 2004 in Japan rofl)

Yippee for PS2 for Kingdom Hearts II and Final Fantasy XII. I really don’t wanna have to plunk down big cash for a PS3 anytime soon and these are the two upcoming games I care about anyway.
