The last thread for this died two years ago and was based around video size and playback mostly, So i want to expand on that with this thread.

I would like to hear your opinions as to whether gamers with Native widescreen graphics and monitor have an advantage in multiplayer games that support native resoloutions (such as FFXI) in comparison to gamers with 4:3 ratio monitors.

I Have thought that gamers with wide displays will be able to see enemies or threats approaching earlier in the larger aspect where as conventional displays would not fit the additional landscape on screen.

I know i like to explore in FFXI and i think it helps me dodge unwanted foes when at lower levels as i see them from futher away and can track around the danger.

i imagine that 4:3 gamers would also have a harder time against a wide gamer
in a vs match if the wide gamer could catch glimses in the extra space on the screen.(FPS/PvP)

I understand it is a small advantage if any, but i think it is definately a notable one.

Discuss.
