Microsoft said in May it won a deal to feature Square Enix’s popular "Final Fantasy" games, which until now had been a cornerstone for Sony. Sony controls more than two-thirds of the game console market with its PlayStation series.

Square Enix’s chief executive Yoichi Wada told Reuters in May that the company had decided to develop a Final Fantasy game for the Xbox 360 after Microsoft agreed to allow users to play against opponents connected via personal computers in addition to other Xboxes.

Microsoft has also said it offered game publishers a bigger cut of the proceeds from game sales and hired key executives from within the gaming industry to court developers.

suck it up, it didnt say they would stop developing for sony, so why shouldnt xbox users be able to play as well?

It appears to me like they are talking about an exclusive title. Maybe not, but it just seems that way.

well if its an exclusive title it will probably be what crystal chronicals was to the gamecube, not part of the actual numerical series. sony still holds a lot of shares in square and won’t lose ff that easily

Yes, but you can see the declining trend in the quality of the games since FFVI, sort of. Definitley since IX.

even if the quality is decreasing ever so slightly, most are still good enough to keep a majority of the ff fanbase from finding other rpgs to play instead. all numbered final fantasy games still rate at least above average when compared to the rest of the genre, and they should be able to make it to ffxv or possibly even ffxx before a majority of gamers either switch series or stop playing ff altogether

i have a slight hope for 12 but the series has declined starting with 8 in my oppinion.

but from the sounds of it i think they are going to make a ff11 spin off.
you know, nothing new or flashy, just a little something for the x-box owners to play and enjoy. but remember, it’s not out of the question for them to become x-box exclusive they have jumped from nintendo to playstation.
