library monster???

i recently heard from a friend that there was a secret boss in a library somewhere

can anyone confirm this?

does anyone have any info or pics?

Yeah, there is this big book. Thingy. Sumtin.

in alexandria during disk three i think well its just befor the attack
you can fight a monster called Tantarian(sp?) it is a book and to kill it you
have to do some thing with the page it is on so yes it is real
you dont have to fight it but wait for some other person to post cause havnt played them in a while but what i do remember its in the Alexandria castle
library you need to check out the book cases and itll say something and fight you

TANTARIAN!!! Man, haven’t had to type up a FF9 strat post in a long time, but I still remember playing against this guy. I had screenshots of him at some point, but I can’t find them at the moment. Ah well.

Tantarian Stats

HP: ~22,000

Type: demon

PRE-BATTLE PREP

Abilities: Auto-regen, Auto-potion, Auto-haste… hehehe, I almost always say that, though. ANTIBODY!!

Stock up on: The usual potions, hi-potions, elixirs, and ethers (if you can), antidote.

Notes: Tanny is strong against Shadow and weak to Holy. Have fun!

BATTLE TIME!

The most important thing is that you’ll first encounter is Tanny in its BOOK form. While he’s closed like that, you have to try to get it open. To open the book, you have to hit it with only 150 – 200 HP worth of damage.

Once the book is open, don’t try to attack Tanny physically. Use your magic attacks and skills like Thievery, and Vivi’s black magic. At this point, Tanny will counterattack and defend itself by casting Poison on you, which is where Antibody comes in handy. He gives all of your party members about 3150 EXP each. Plus 30 AP, so you’ll be able to learn some abilities with that.

You can also steal Demon’s Mail, Silver Fork, Elixir, and Ether, and at the end, the spoils are Running Shoes.

You can also fight it in disk 1, although it isn’t recommended for obvious reasons. I’ll get a screenshot done in a while, may take a while though

This is the monster in battle, both open and closed. It’s a lot like the Page 64 monsters from FF5
