Vol. 3….do you think it was good for Slipknot to go a little softer than their normal hardcore selves? Or was it a bad idea because it attracted so many little children?

I just thought the record sucked. It’s sounded better when live.

It’s not bad, not as good as Iowa but I can listen to it without screaching in agony.

I actually really like this album, it hasn’t attracted more little kids anyway as Slipknot always has had a young fanbase as well as older people. I think they’re just ‘evolving,’ mellowing out wasn’t such a bad idea as they’ve still produced some good soft songs like Vermillion.

They’re still too happy, listen to Slipknot and Iowa, they hated each other and they made kick ass albums as a result. They should be banned from ever getting a therapist or taking happy hippy weed.

It actually has because of its song (duality) on KROQ….now there are pictures with like Joey Jordison with little 7 year olds

I don’t dislike the more mellow songs, but I enjoyed the other three cds more. ^_^

I don’t mind this album really, Their old stuff was pretty crap in my opinion, And I really like the toned down stuff such as Circle and Vermillion Ver. 2

Their best album was IOWA.
Vol.3 is still good though. Duality is a very good song, as is Pulse of the maggots.
But my favorite on this album would have to be Three Nil.
I rate it only about a 6/10. not there best, but pritty damn good considering that corey’s voice isnt doing to well…

Honestly? Volume 3 is the only Slipknot album I can tolerate, and it has some okay tunes on there, like Vermillion and Duality. I think if they worked the whole musical part of their art they might actually one day become halfway decent.

I havent listened to the album much, but i really like ‘Before i forget’, its an awesome song!

This is the order in which i like the albums:

Slipknot
Mate feed kill repeat
Vol. 3 The Subliminal Versus
Iowa

Been to see them live twice and they rocked both times! 🙂 once at Ozzfest and the 2nd at Leeds festival!

The self-titled version is my favorite album too, I really like Surfacing, Prosthetics, Liberate, and Scissors…on Vol. 3 my favorite songs are The Virus of Life and Vermillion

i don’t think Slipknot should’ve started making records to begin with. they’re punk/screamo music is nuthin short of complete and utter lyrical shit.

I had a feeling the general concensus was that they couldn’t possible attract any more little children.

tbh, I found it to be a lot more listenable than anything else by them.

They do have punk elements but so do a lot of Metal/Hardcore bands, Anthrax have quite a bit of it, although I’m not too sure I hear a lot of screamo from Slipknot…
