I actually enjoyed it to be honest, as it had a few good themes and ideas in it’s story that sadly was never really compeleted, as the series was cancelled halfway through after poor ratings in Japan (it was originally planned to run to 52 episodes). Kaze’s summons got a little repeatative after a while though, and the two kids who were the main characters had annoying voices.
Some of the character designs do resmble certain characters from the FF games though. Cid naturally appears, although this time around he’s a blonde-haired youngster with a short temper who gives his inventions womens’ names (and yes, in a tip of the hat to FFIX, he gets turned into a frog and nearly eaten in one episode! ), and resembles Cloud Strife from FFVII rather closely. Speaking of Cloud, one of the main antagonists, the cold, calm engimatic swordsman White Cloud, as his name suggests has more than a passing resemblance to Cloud in FFVII.
In keeping with the FFVII references, Kaze, aka Black Wind, White Cloud’s deadly rival, looks like a Vincent Valentine wannabe, with a cold, ‘man-of-few-words’ gun-toting demeanour, although his deus ex machina of using the Demon Gun attached to his arm to shoot out the regular ‘summon of the week’ to save the day wears a little thin rather quickly.
The main female lead, Lisa, is rather like a cross between Tifa Lockheart and a Geomancer, with little White Mage thrown in for good measure, especially with the Tifa-like ‘victory pose’ she adopts after most battles. The two ‘main leads’ however, are a pair of annoying kids (ridiculousy named Ai and Yu) whose nasaly voices and penchant for getting into trouble (which Kaze usually ends up having to save them from), and which fail to elict any real feelings of sympathy from the viewer. In fact, you’ll proably find yourself hoping they meet some horrible fate rather quickly.
you can say that again, but it would be a thrill to se some
ff characters in an animation. the game Fmvs are so short they don’t satisfy my hunger, it’s good thing they are making AC.
thank hyne …er square enix =)
Needless to say, they’re not really accepted by the general FF fanbase as well as many would think.
They have a show called icons, and they have a mini documentary on famous games and frachieses such as Final Fantasy.
