I’m a kinda noob at ffx as i’ve only been layinf for like 3 days. I was just wondering how to use lulu’s overdrive ‘fury.’ As an example, swordplay requires you to get the cursor into the middle. Wakka’s slots, but what about lulu’s? i just button bash the damn thing but it doesn’t work.

You rotate the analog sticks.

Lulu’s overdrive is one of the worst in the game though, Double Cast and a powerfull spell have a much greater effect. Because, for example, if you use Firaga, the normal damage is cut in 1/8th, meaning you’ll have to pull off atleast 8 rounds.

you cant get to 8 unless you got cheats on thats if there is a cheat to do that

You can get 8. You have to have extremely quick reactions. The effect is cumulative. Here is how it works:

Amount of Hits|Number of times to turn stick (in total)
2 | 2
3 | 5
4 | 9
5 | 14
6 | 20
7 | 27
8 | 35

Are the spells cumulative? Cause I think for at least the NTSC version, the number of turns you do is the number of spells you do. So four turns = 4 spells. And I think each spell is at about 1/4 or 1/3 spell power.

They’re not cumulative, nor is it one turn per spell (at least not overall). It’s dependent upon the magic stat, and the spell used. Each spell belongs to one of each group.

Group 1: 1st level elemental magic
Group 2: 2nd level elemental magic
Group 3: 3rd level elemental magic, Bio, Demi and Death
Group 4: Drain and Osmose
Group 5: Flare
Group 6: Ultima

The magic stat is also divided into six groups:

1. 24 or less
2. 35-39
3. 60-99
4. 100-199
5. 200-254
6. 255

Most humans can do about 20-28 turns of the analog stick in 4 seconds if at full speed (that’s just some random guess :p). At 255 magic:

Group 1: 16 spells – 15 turns (this is basically 1 turn per spell)
Group 2: 16 spells – 15 turns (same as above)
Group 3: 16 spells – 23 turns
Group 4: 16 spells – 15 turns (same as 1 and 2)
Group 5: 11 spells – 29 turns
Group 6: 7 spells – 26 turns

If you manage 7 spells with Ultima Fury, you’re insanely fast.

For damage:

Fire, Thunder, Blizzard, Water – 41.6% of normal spell
Fira, Thundara, Blizzara, Watera – 41.6% of normal spell
Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga, Waterga – 42.86% of normal spell
Drain – 45% of normal spell
Flare – 36.6% of normal spell
Osmose, Ultima – 40% of normal spell

Once your magic is high enough, Doublecasting magic is much better due to the damage/recovery time ratio.

Usually, if you want to find something out, you play the game, that well and that many times, you can work it out

That information is from Battle Ultimania and also in an FAQ.
