Final Fantasy XIII: ideas coming to life

What sould come in FFXIII? should there be the classic teenager male main character? or should square enix put somethin different? maybe a something like a mr magoo old man as main character, he would use his black magic skills to burn into hell the bad guys. How should Cid be? Maybe a rocker with pointy red hair and a sword-guitar as weapon. The summoner should be a man, not a woman, the summoner would be an arabian like priest.
Bad guys of course ut this time the final boss should be a woman, a white mage that betrayed the holy order and tried to corrupt the world, she allied with satanic forces and now she is a demon woman who lives in the moon.

Pfft, girls don’t get the gratification they deserve. Also, the trailer gives away that the main character will most likely be a chick, and she’s ace. Hopefully she’s the main, IMO.

Also, it doesn’t matter what we think anything should be because ultimately, we have to deal with and discuss the decisions Square has made for their game. Wishing for something will just bring disappointment. My apoligies for raining on the parade.

No, X and XII also mainly revolve around Ashe and Yuna. Yuna was a weak character. Ashe was eh ok, i still would have rather likes the main character to be Vaan

I’m still emotionally attached to Yuna but I like how Ashe’s character is portrayed, she’s a strong, intelligent woman with self motivation.

I don’t entirely agree that Yuna was weak. She was naive, dependent, and young, what do you really expect. I wouldn’t call it very weak if you’re willing to give your own life for the good of the world. But throughout the game she stands more ground, gains more confidence and attitude; decent development. Then in X-2 she was the leader, two years older, and she pulled through.

Also, two main characters as women isn’t exactly alot for the entire franchise, so shush.

2) Male teenage main characters in FF games usually turn out to be so pathetic these days that it’s not even funny anymore… (Squall, Tidus, Vaan, etc).

3) I think it’s time for a change in pace… One of the reasons FF1-7 rocked so hard was because the characters weren’t clueless children going through puberty and trying to save the world at the same time. I mean, FF10 was cooler because Auron and that blue dude (Kimari?) were there to sort of weigh out the younger angst-ness, but Tidus kind of killed the mood with his father complex…

A main character that’s obsessed with lychees would be great.

It does look like the main character will be that male guy who shows up in one of the trailers (the blonde guy with the bandana), as Lightning seems to be closer to an amalgamation of Tifa and Aerith.

you guys dont get the deep details within the games. i think so far every main character has been great(squall and cloud are my favorites) with the exeption of vaan. to understand what i said stop playing halo and go play the games a second time. if you see you arent completely hopeless. also, GT Stevo, what the crap r u talking about? half of the main charaters were not childen. heck cloud was 21

The main characters after FF7, meaning FF8, FF9, FF10, (FF11 doesn’t count), and FF12 are teenagers. Not
FF7 where Cloud was 21, or
FF6 where Terra was 18 or 19, or
FF5 where Gutz/Butz was 22-ish, or
FF4 where Cecil was probably 24, and so on…

either way square has done enough screwin around with "bible of Final Fantasy" what i want to see is a good old fashioned atb high teens, low 20s male main character, controlable airships, not tiring chocobos, different colored chocobos, and chocobo races. I want the main character to be quite and calm like squall and cloud. I liked ffX because of its story, thus i let Tidus’s personality slip. I dont look at games and see a gamei see a potential story that i can break down. I do this because i will be a future game designer and Stevo i dont really want to read your opinion

I couldn’t agree with you more that RPG’s should focus on storyline. As of late, most RPG’s are lacking their strongest element; their epic tale and/or theme, which is as essential as a healthy heart is to a marathon runner. The gaming world needs a designer/director like you.

However, if you’re going to make it big in the gaming world, I suggest you hire an editor or work on your grammar in the mean time. ^_^;;

There is an RPG where the main character is somewhat of a pervert… I haven’t played it an ages, but I remember it to be really funny just because it was so different of an RPG. I’m pretty sure it was called ‘Thousand Arms’. Game specs may not be up to par with your typical RPG, but it’s got the character you’re looking for. ^_^

Thousand Arms was fuckin’ awesome, since it integrated intimacy levels in such a way that I almost thought it was a Dating Sim.
