equip tool in ffvi

can someone help me out? I’ve been playing ff6 lately and some what I’m not able to equip tool. I’m thinking it might just be to do with playing it with emulator on PC, or it’s only possible with jap version. either way for curiosity if you have ff6 on snes or ps console, please try this out and tell me if it works.

get rid of either all helms or armours and place one of the tools at the bottom right corner of the item list. and do optimum equip.

character�s stat should go up to 255 defense or magic defence.

Tools aren’t actually classed as equipment, and are not equipped to Edgar as his weapon, as they’re classed as an ability. You just need to have them in your inventory for Edgar to use them (as a default weapon, Edgar can be equipped with swords and spears).

To actually use them, you simply choose ‘Tools’ in the menu in battle, and select whatever one you want to use, assuming it’s in your inventory at that time.

Incidentally, much later in the game, if you get Gogo the Mime in your party, he can also use Edgar’s Tools ability too, as long as you give him that ability.

yeah I know that but you can actually equip them to get max Defense and Mag.def
in jap version(see my thread). I’m currently playing english version and it doesn’t work. so I’m wondering if it’s to do with me playing with emulator.

Well then, I guess it was just a bug that was fixed for the US release of FFVI (aka ‘FFIII’), as it’s something I never heard of in FFVI. Mind you, even the US version was riddled with bugs – the infamous ‘sketch’ glitch for one – so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in the game.

Well… I tried it on a ROM and it didn’t work. I even tried it on my SNES version AND PSX version and guess what? It didn’t work. From what I understand in your post, it sounds like you’ve got it as a ROM. The only thing I can think of, is that the ROM version of FFVI you have, was hacked before being posted online for downloads.

thank you for trying, I sppose as Enkidho said it was just a bug which they got rid of before marketing it outside japan. oh well, I just have to play without it then. 🙁
