I was just wondering if the DS lived up to the hype surrounding it, what do you guys think?

I love my little DS and i think a change in the controls was exactly what we needed.

Do you think it will keep gaming fresh and exciting?

Does anyone hate it’s digital guts?

And most importantly, will it secure nintendo’s place in gaming?

No it won’t secure Nintendos place in gaming, but I do think it lived up to the hype.

I mean the DS was only a third pillar system, Nintendo really bought it out just to tie themselves over until they bring out a proper system. It was just brought out to keep consumers more intrested into what Nintendo was doing. So it did basically what it was built for.

I’m a little disappointed in my DS at the moment, but that’s only because i’ve got two really good games – and one is a demo. Once more games start coming out (like Final Fantasy III DS!) it will be better.

The DS is an overrated gimmick, and I deeply regret ever giving it any praise in the slightest. I wish everybody would stop buying them so nintendo would go back to making good games again.

I didn’t even think the DS was hyped that much really. As soon as I saw that the next gameboy was going to have "two SCREENS !!!!!" i said, " o really? How many games would actually use that in an original way? I’m not buying that shit".

The "two screens are better than one" thing just didn’t go over with me well from the beginning so I lost interest in the DS entirely.

Did it live up to the hype? I guess so, but only because there wasn’t much hype to begin with.

Silence, moron. No one gives a shit about your ranting. Try backing up your bullshit or go crawl back under your rock.

I happen to like the DS. The list of games isn’t very impressive yet, but lots of the upcoming titles look good.

I rather enjoy my DS. It is in desperate need of games, though.

It’s a handheld that needs to be played to fully understand. To be honest i didn’t think it would work, but then i played it and that’s when you realise the innovation. I persuade everyone to buy one (or at least nick your mate’s one) you will see what i mean.

But yes, all of the EA games are shite -wait until ninty releases the big titles… You know it’s gonna rock!

I tire of your fanboy prattling.

Everyone here clearly stated they either have the handheld, or they’ve played it, and although it is enjoyable, it clearly isn’t ‘innovative’ in any way. At the moment, it’s useful for reliving memores of Mario 64 and keeping your mates entertained with minigames – and that’s it.

Maybe with more better games, it will demonstrate innovation, but at the moment, it hasn’t.

What other handheld has tried touch-screen technology? See, innovative!
i’m not a fanboy – i like sony aswell

It’s not innovative to pull aspects from other technology and put them in a handheld. If my playstation made toast and vacuumed the floor, it wouldn’t make the games any better.

A PDA with a stylus you dumbass. EDIT: Oh yeah, some ATMs use the touch screen technology too. Like Wells Fargo’s ATMs.

The DS isn’t considered the next GameBoy. Also, the DS was designed to only have a few month life. It was not designed to compete with the PSP. They just did it to release something innovative and knew it wasn’t going to be HUGE.

The DS was released to slow the sales of PSP. Nintendo realized just how good of a hit the PSP was going to be, so they quickly threw together another handheld that has two screens, and one happens to be a touch. Oh boy!

I agree with raidenex with this becuase its fun, it has some good games, and will soon become better when better games and enhancements come out such as wireless online multiplayer and what not. I think it is worth the money becuase even though its not graphically superior to the PSP it has more games I’m into on it and the PSP for me I really have no use for it since I have an MP3 player and its mainly just a portable PS2 which I have, maybe when its price comes down I’ll get one but for now the DS to me is the better buy for the money.
