Her cd came out last year, I guess, but I never would have heard of her if she hadn’t been mentioned on allmusic.
I don’t know how to describe her cd, really. It’s just a fun and strange pop album, I guess. She experiments with a lot of genres, but I think the Doris Day-esque stuff is probably the most fun.
You can listen to samples of her stuff on her official site,
nelliemckay.com (http://nelliemckay.com/). I’d be happy to send anyone full songs if they’re curious about it, though.
My favorite songs are probably "Ding Dong", "Really", "The Dog Song", and "Suitcase Song".
Even with just 30 second song clips (musicians should just put up a few full songs instead of a preview of every song :(), I think I like her stuff. I wouldn’t mind hearing a full song though, if you’re offering Ndi: bigfoot4k at hotmail dot com
That reminds me…I sent you the Ramones cover of Tom Waits’ ‘I Don’t Wanna Grow Up’ a while back and I never heard if you got it.
Awesome. I listened to a few previews and I think they’re great overall. I will probably get it next time I pick up some music.
You can email me a few complete tracks( [email protected] ) and I’ll put them up for everyone. That goes for anyone that ever wants to make a topic spotlighting musicians.
Bigfoot: I got your mp3 after the internet at home went down, and I’m not supposed to listen to that sort of thing at work. =/
So I am glad you reminded me, and I am listening to it now.
Pretty exciting stuff, in my opinion! I love Tom Waits. 🙂

I’ll try and find it online, I guess.
I will try and download it from Limewire and host it if you have problems.
But thanks a lot for offering.
The DVD side of the DualDisc Get Away From Me includes the entire album in 5.1 Surround Sound and enhanced LPCM Stereo; "San Francisco Night – Live at the Independent," an eight-song set recorded in High Definition video on November 23, 2004 capturing the unpredictable wit, musical elegance, and charismatic on-stage bravado of Nellie live in concert; and a bonus audio tracks page debuting two previously unreleased songs, "John-John" and "Teresa," written and produced by Nellie McKay.
Also, Ndi, I posted the mp3s at the TNL in the "recent discoveries" music thread and everyone loves them.
I think I’m going to go to tnl just to read those posts. ^^
