enc-none in deep sea research centre.

This guy on neoseeker is insisting that enc-none doesn’t work in the deep sea research centre, it works for me. He also showed me a link where it said it didn’t but I was there only a couple of days ago and it worked.
I junctioned it to Quistis and I didn’t encounter a single monster. Did encounter-none work for you?

Actually, I believe whether or not Enc-None works entirely properly is dependent on whether or not you tackle with Zell in your party.

Well, I used Zell on the first trip and Selphie on the second (the winning one) so I dunno, I never encountered monsters either time.

Hmm. I remember encountering monsters every few steps in the lower levels, regardless of whether I had ENC-NONE equipped or not. But I could be remembering wrong. I think I have a save-file where I could check though if anyone really wants to know…

I’m pretty sure you get encounters down there, because I couldn’t fight Ultima Weapon because I couldn’t get to him because even with Enc-none I didn’t junciton status defense death, ao I’m 99% sure there are encounters.

In the lowest areas Enc-none stops functioning.

In all screens after where Zell starts up that big machine to open the door by himself, there’s fixed encounters and Enc-None won’t stop them. As you go deeper, you’ll get harder battles.

Well, I swear, I didn’t have any encounters at all! Anywhere. And I didn’t use Zell to fix the machine the first time either. Encounter none worked for me the entire time!
What a mystery.

I think if you use Zell’s services, then Enc-None stops functioning. And if you don’t, it works okay. So, SheaD, I think that’s why you didn’t get encounters — you didn’t use Zell. I could still be wrong though.

Yeah enc-non only works if zell is not on your team if he joins you then you get attacked.

every single time i have been down there i have not had a battle (exept ultima wepon)

Just beat Ultima Weapon, and yeah I had Zell in my team and I got encounters, and it was a complete nightmare! Got there in the end, but the first time I beat him I’d forgotten to get Eden, so I had to restart, he then killed me 3 times and the next time I beat him AGAIN and had forgotten to draw Eden AGAIN! I am such a sieve head! Got him in the end though, thank goodness

Eeesh! Did you have to restart the entire thing, or did you use the hidden save point down at the bottom? You do know that there is one hidden in that area — right?
