I also believe that, throughout the game, Sephiroth’s will or psyche was not "[holding] back Holy" as theorized in the "Sephiroth" section…he was constraining the Lifestream. Why I believe this is because when Cloud finally defeats Sephiroth within his mind for supremacy of his body, the Lifestream, at the last few seconds before annihilation, suddenly emerges to destroy Meteor, as if it were finally free to choose to defend itself. As long as Sephiroth’s intense will was still in existence outside of his inanimate body (and also having partly assimilated into the consciousness of the Lifestream when he fell into it during the Nibelheim incident, yet remained separate), he would be able to restrain or strongly influence the Lifestream. Now, a good question would be why would the Lifestream choose to defend human life when Holy did not? The Lifestream, as explained by Bugenhagen in the game, is said to be the "spirit", or consciousness of life on the Planet. If so, the Lifestream is the consciousness and probably the will of the Ancients (Cetra) that were wiped out and returned to the planet, and other lifeforms within the cycle of returning to the planet and being reborn. It would make sense that, in such a crisis, the consciousness or will of these beings would not favor to destroy the existing lifeforms on the planet, but save them. Besides, Midgar (seemingly the source of the Mako-use problem for the Planet) had been irrepairably damaged by the time the Lifestream acted anyway.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the subject. Please respond with input.
P.S. Dawn of Souls is wayyyy easier than the original FFI and FFII, so try and get emulators of those first.

See, what I think, and pretty much know, that the power of Meteor was overpowering Holy. Holy wasn’t strong enough by itself to destroy Meteor. But, when Aeris summoned Lifestream, it gave Holy an edge and helped strengthen the power against Meteor. RedXIII said, "having the opposite effect", making it so that Meteor countered the effect of Holy.
To me, Aeris death was not pointless whatsoever. If Aeris didn’t die, Lifestream would not have been summoned and the world would end in the blink of an eye. And, Aeris was still alive, in spirit, guiding Cloud’s instinct during the rest of the game. You may not have seen her, except for the ghost in the church, but she was there, in Cloud’s memory, motivating him.
That is my opinion.
Too much Information!!! BRAIN OVERLOAD!!!:eye:
As for that theory of yours, Sakabatou, it’s very interesting indeed. I might look further into it and see with what I come up with. I gave that subject a lot of thought as well, and your thoughts about the whole thing are pretty interesting.
It’s going to be pretty fun for me looking into this. Thanks for giving my life a sense. ^_^
i dont think too much, just enough to do life’s daily processes…barely…did i just say processes? only a robot would use that word….Oh no…NOOOOOOOOOOO…*runs off screaming*
what do you mean if SE WANTED us to do this???
anyway…your weird….you hate a human being for having a theory about something like this…@[email protected] almost as weird as some one hating jesus…i mean..i’m not christian..but i don’t HATE him..
anyway…don’t listen to the crazy ultimate finalfantasy fan…@_@
this theory makes lots of sense, but i do believe that aries death was NOT useless, like others have said before, it summoned the lifestream.
The main thing i agree with you about is that, when RedXII says its the "opposite effect" that does not mean it didn’t work, that means its doing the opposite of what it should be doing, and the opposite of protecting the planet, would be protecting meteor. and thats that.
and it does make sense in the end, being earth could survive meteor, but it couldn’t survive humans…if it kept them on the planet, sucking up the life stream and all.
Well, I gave a lot of thought to this one and here’s what I came up with. Sakabatou’s theory above is good and I see that he did a lot of thinking. But this theory is wrong, I believe. And here’s why.
First of all, Weapons were released in response to the summoning of Meteor. The goal of the Weapons was to kill all living things and create enough Spirit Energy (A.K.A. Lifestream) so that the planet could heal the wound Meteor would inflict. But Holy emerged to destroy Meteor so to save humans from being killed by the Weapons – because if Meteor were to be destroyed, then there would be no wound on the planet, and there would also be no reason for the Weapons to kill all humans on the planet – because no Spirit Energy would be needed. It is exactly for this reason why Holy definetly DID NOT assist Meteor in destroying the panet, as Sakabatou said above. However, Holy wasn’t powerful enough so the Lifestream helped out.
So therefor we conclude – If Meteor crashed, Weapons would kill all humans to create enough energy to heal the wound, Holy did not want this to happen, and tried to stop Meteor to save human life. Because there was no reason in killing so much people if there was a chance to stop Meteor.
So, there you have it. Sakabatou’s theory is really good, if not excellent, but it’s wrong as far as I see it. But, anyway, good thinking, Sakabatou ^_^
That is why you will never achieve anything great with your life. Im not saying that i am…but if you dont like people that think to much…jus stop using your computer right now….and while your at that…stop using light bulbs….and get outta yur house…and stop wearing your clothing….and…well…ya you get the point…cuz the people who created these things put WAY MORE thought into it than these people are with this game. And people that think way to much are the people creating cures for diseases such as cancer AIDS, and the like…jus cool off a lil man
well…actually, if you watch the ending CGI…you’ll see that lifestream is the one that saved the planet…not holy…or maybe it merged with holy…or somptin…i dont really have any ideas of what really happened…the only thing i know is that lifestream is the main thing that helped the planet
Hell, I almost cried when Aerith died. And I’m a guy!! Everyone says gus don’t cry, but I ALMOST cried. Her death was sad. I hope to everything will be cleared in AC. I can’t wait. ^_^
I H8 the fact that Aeris dies. SquareSoft should have also put in a status change called VERY PISSED OFF that u get when Aeris dies that makes u have infinite limits, limitless accuracy, and infinite summons and mp
mwahahahahahahahahahahahaha
by the way, Sv.C, that would make it kinda lame, wouldn’t it?
no ur not
