ive gotten into the sugarplastic (released album in 1996) and the horrorpops as of late. but most importantly, i just discovered eisley a few hours ago. they are my new fave band i think. you can listen to their stuff here (http://www.eisley.com/music.php). the band has 3 really hot girls in it. i guess this is the type of music people would call "emo."
part two:
MOVE OVER LINKIN PARK: IM TRADING MY ANGST FOR EMO. which most seem to agree is an upgrade. what would you say?
I’ve been in a Beatles obsession as of… late?.
part two:
neither it’s both trash.
2: Don’t like either, but I suppose emo is better than angst. And the poll title should be "Is emo > angst?"
Sorry to nitpick =P
As for the other question yeah, I’d say neither angst nor emo, but at least angst doesn’t act out as an entire silly genre. A song can be emo, but can’t be angst. It can have angst (some could be okay), but not be it. Or something. Most bands that are classified as emo seem really fake to me, and often have whiny vocals that turn me off. And overly angsty lyrics usually suck; that ‘CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES’ crap.
So yeah, just good music for me thanks!
2: Ewe. Emo is yucky. Linkin Park is was better. =(
Since you’re a theater gal, I think you should go all indiefag. Listen to The Cure and a million other bands that nobody’s ever heard of and wear a white belt.
2: I used to be a big Linkin Park fan, but not so much anymore. I think it came from when I saw them live and got to "meet the after the concert." It’s something they starte a while ago.. the firs hundred or so people to get a ticket gets some sticker that shows you get to meet the after the show. It was gat.. to corraled us up and made us single file by a table where they were sitting and get one thing signed.. woopity doo. They were even being complete assholes.. especially Mr. Hanh. They need to learn to take a fucking joke.
Also.. I thought they were always a kind of mix of angst and emo? For every angsty song they seem to have an emo one.
Are you obsequious? I’ve heard that obsequiousness is pretty popular with the kids nowadays…
2: i’ve decided neither angst nor emo suit me, so i’ve traded angst for apathy.
but maybe I’m just a little biased. not that I’d describe myself as "indie", because I’m just a guy who likes some bands, and there isn’t really a cohesive scene, etc. that goes with that. in Ireland, at least. In fact, the only Irish scenes seem to be metal or yokes. I assume both spring from the fact that ireland is dreary and shitty, but who knows?
also, I’d take emo over angst, I guess. purely on the fact that the stereotypical emo girls I see (online, we don’t get them here, obviously) supposedly wear cute glasses.
Cute glasses have no rims, or thin ones that can’t be seen.
and i dislike the cure, but ive been listening to some indie music. mostly british indie stuff. dont think the whole "white belt" thingll happen though.
also, i cant get enough of this eisley band, so please click here (http://www.hyfntrak.com/eisley/AFF16242/) to listen to them (it gets me some street team points). ^__^;;
you get some assholes who act like that when they go to a concert and it pisses me off, i piss my pants (figuratively) when i go to see a band i like
It depends on the kind of emo. I think some emo bands are okay. Better then Lincoln Park.
glasses are undeniably hot, but emo is not.
It weirded me out so much when I saw that they had a music video on TV. Are all the new songs like TKO? Because I might be crazy, but my limited memory of Le Tigre songs in the past has been far more… weird.
Until I read this thread I didn’t think there was a difference with emo and angst music. Mostly those terms just annoy me and I try to take it one band at a time.
But I’m listening to Megadeth and Pantera lately.
I really don’t like either, but, i would classify what i have of APC under emo, such as ‘the noose’. if angst is classified as linkin park, then i’d take emo, hands down. but, like i said, i don’t regularly listen to it. i just like APC.
2. I don’t really care.
2. I don’t mind either of them too much, both angst and emo can be taken too far. Two examples being Dashboard Confessional and Adema.
Part Two: I deny both, but if I HAD to choose one, I’d go for Angst.
As for this part, fuck angst. Uphold emo! But the good emo, the indie kind, screw the dashboard confesional kind. It takes a lot more brain power to write true emo songs. Anyone can scream about the invasion of personel space. Angst got too mainstream. Now it’s almost as bad as pop. But that guy from Adema is extremley hot.
