Another way to beat Chac (with no fancy stuff)

Well the forun wouldn’t let me add this to an old thread about fighting Chac, so I forced to post this as a new thread. This is the way I beat Chac, the boss on level 80 of Via Infinito. I don’t have the Mascot or Lady Luck dress spheres, so this is the brute-force way of doing things. If you think Cat Nip + Trigger Happy is a cheap trick, you could try it this way.

Ok, first of all my girls are on levels Y 96, R 99, P 99. They have all mastered Beserker. What you need to do is go fight anywhere that serpent is, and wait for one to Oversoul. DON’T KILL IT! You may have to make sure you don’t have Evade & Counter on anyone or you might accidentally kill the oversouled beast. I fought my way around the Chocobo dungeon, in case you are looking for a good spot. As soon as you have one oversouled, and you didn’t kill it, get out of there and go save. You may want to go into Config and change the ATB mode to Wait, at least for the boss fight.

Now get back to Bevelle and suit everyone up as a Beserker. I don’t know that you necessarily have to have it mastered, but you do need Auto Regen and Evade & Counter. Also equip anything that will give you Speed, Strength and/or Luck. (Defense is a B item here because the idea is that he can’t lay a slithery snake arm on you.) Now go to the cloister and approach the battle field.

Since you have that kind of beast oversouled, when you start to fight Chac you will find that he is oversouled. This is a good thing! Now he can’t do his Heaven’s Cataract attack, which can wipe out all of the girls at once. Don’t do anything fancy, just put your thumb on the X and hold it down. If your girls are quick enough, he won’t even get to attack. If he does manage to kill someone throw a phoenix down at them and keep wailing on Chac. Also keep your Softs or Remedies close by in case he gets to throw a Stoney Glare at you. The Auto Regen should keep everyone healthy and after 12 – 20 rounds, depending on the strength of your attacks, he’ll be dead!

Just wanted to share that for anyone else who doesn’t have the fancy equipment. 😉 Good luck!

Edit: Hi Agent0042, yes actually I happily jump into battle with every Elder Drake I see. You really don’t have to even be leveled up for them, just as long as you have evade & counter on everyone. Just be sure to equip before you go into battle, because if he does get a claw on you it is bad news. Peace!!
