I’d like to specify: My comment above about him not even dancing was because I don’t understand what his problem is if he doesn’t feel that the metal kids are ruining his dancing experience somehow. If he just watches, it shouldn’t really matter.

I know Creek personally (same school) and I’ve seen her with Metal friends. But they don’t talk about their music, just what else they have in common. They don’t go to "her" shows, she doesn’t go to "theirs".

I used to sing in a hardcore influenced metal band. The kids that liked us were divided. The ones that were into HXC said we were hardcore. The metal kids said we were metal. It was stupid. We just wanted to make noise. HXC is so poser these days…too much bollocks about a scene and not enough about music. Good metal is dead. Not many great metal bands about that haven’t peaked already. That is my almighty opinion anyway…but what the fuck do I know…

Acctually, my brother (HxC) has talked to a few Hard core bands. He and a friend had backstage passes to OzzFest, sadly, I couldn’t go (family issues). They met Hate Breed… and Hate Breed said "We consider ourselves Hard Core…"

Finally I can agree with MMM for once. Metal was always about music and fucking shit up, not some wanker flailing his arm around like he’s trying to shit a dildo out. They’re called headbangers, not "lets flail our arms like retards"

In a mosh pit, you jump around, run into people, and push them, and it SHOULD all be without the intention of causing real injury. In all the mosh pits I’ve been in (admittedly not that many), people keep track of each other and if you slip on some sweat or something, people stop jumping around for a moment and help you up. The idea is to have a hell of a lot of fun, not to make people bleed, you fucking asshole. You definitely do not punch and kick people. I’ve seen some real dickheads in mosh pits, but I’ve never seen anybody who was enough of a retard to do that.

(good) metal consists of good lyrics, quality music (I respect the band more if the members are as skilled as creative). And maybe the most important part is the vocalist.
If the singer really gets into the song and expresses his emotions it really makes you feel something. Just look at Fade to black or One by Metallica.
Unlike hardcore which is mere yelling imo.

Not really – In Flames have some pretty crap lyrics, but are a great band.
Fade to Black is pretty awesome.

Fast hardcore is pretty difficult to play effectively, and some of those bands have pretty great lyrics too. What you mean is that you don’t like hardcore, not that it’s crappy music. It’s not "just screaming," there is actually thought put into where and what they scream, believe it or not. Not to mention the fact that not all hardcore vocals ARE screams.
