Back before the PS2 came out, Sony put out a bunch of promo movies. One of them was a revamped ballroom sceen from FFVIII Disk 1. I’ve sceen screenshots of it, but can’t seem to find the whole thing. Does anyone have it, or know where I could get it? Thanks.

No, but when you do, please please please give it to me.

IF it’s like an old-ish black & white cinema-type quality, it comes on a special FFVIII demo disc you get with FFVII (platinum). it’s also got a rehashed version of the opening sequence with cuts of the Forest Owl mission FMVs

Hope this helps,
Andi

I think I found some screenshots of it here:

When I first looked at it I thought Square was going to remake FFVIII or something. I still like the original graphics though, the Ps2 ones would kind of ruin the game IMO.

I think the one in those might just be PSX graphics. just things they made but didnt put in the game.

That dance would be perfect in PS2 FMV.

Even with the PS2 graphics update, FF8 would still suck from all the plotline holes.

It looks like PS1 graphics to me, but a PS2 version of it sounds pretty cool

I thought the graphics for Final Fantasy 8 were alright. I really liked the parts where every late Final fantasy’s for ps1 and ps2 were great.

The FFVIII thing was a tech demo to show the power of the PS2. It wasn’t a movie, it was rendered real time. Tech demos usually don’t end up being real games, it is just something to present. If it ever becomes a real game, usually the quality is diminished a bit, tech demos usually focuses everything on screen rather than actual physics/game input etc.

I actually got to see some of the footage on TV one time, it was running at a full 60FPS (if you don’t know how smooth that is, most Final Fantasy games are about 30 Frames per Second, that’s the amount of frames the game displays a second, 60 is very smooth). I wish I had recorded it and if I ever do find this, I’ll try to get it up on FFShrine ASAP.
