I was wondering whether getting Everquest II is worth-it. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about it from Everquest fans & people who enjoy MMORPG’s alike [who haven’t played the original].

When it comes to MMORPG’s, I really don’t have a clue. I’ve only [sort of] played one [Guild Wars BETA] &, I have to say, that was the game that inspired me to continue playing the genre.

I’ve heard that the game tends to slow down on lower-spec machines [like mine] & that the frame rate is really bad [even for the beefiest of pc’s].

If Eq II isn’t worth getting is it possible if you could recommend me an alternative?

Thanks,

Well I’ve both played EQ2 and WoW (World of Warcraft) and I so totally loved WoW more. The whole atmosphere of the game got me in it’s grasp the moment I set foot in the game itself. But then again, a friend of mine also played both and loved EQ2 as much as I love WoW. So in the end it’s really up to you.

I agree – everything i’ve seen of World of WarCraft is beautifully balanced and has design in iotas.

Okay, Thanks. I’ve heard alot of good things about WoW too. The graphics don’t look as spectacular as Eq II, but in a way, that’s a good thing since [hopefully] it won’t slow down.

I’ll probably get the american version [i’m from the uk] since it’ll probably come out half-way through 2005 over here – I can’t wait that long!

I’d check your local gamestore – it’s out in Australia, and I can’t see us getting a game before the UK =/

Sadly enough this is not true. EU is currently in the closed Beta and the open Beta will follow very shortly. The game is scheduled to be released in january 2005 (the Beta ends at the end of december so we all hope for january), but that’s just a gamble. Alot of people hope around the 14th of january but knowing Blizzard they’ll release very shortly after the open Beta ends.
