I generally prefer les paul to fender, not because of a difference in quality, they both have their duds/gems, but it just seems like a LP has more soul when you get around the 12th fret zone where I like to solo…the axe kinda bawls, a fender tends to scream, unless you set it up different. Maybe i’d like a fatstrat, They look like they have a lil better access to the uppers. But what’s access without the humbuckahs to let everyone know? Hm.

i’d like to try PRS someday

"Les Paul" is a style of Gibson guitar. "Fender" is a guitar company. I’m far from a guitar expert, but you should at least know the difference between the name of the guitar and the company that makes it. =\

I prefer Gibson guitars to Fender ones for look and sound, but there are lots and lots of other brands out there too.

I personally use Fenders, I’ve used Gibson Les Pauls before didn’t like there weight, but Gibson SG’s are a very awesome guitar. But yeah I use Fender’s, I currently have a Fender Telecaster+. Also I find you can mod Fenders alot easier than Gibsons, not sure why, they just are.

I’ve been playing for 5 years, don’t bitch at me like i’m a noob. Everyone guitarist, including you, knows that the only common contendor to a les paul that fender would make, would be the strat. Eat me.

Exactly.

I prefer Les Pauls for soloing, i love the tone of a les paul more too. Although Fenders have a fat sound, which is awesome (SRV, Hendrix). I play Jacksons and Kramers though too.

When did I say you were a noob? Shut up. Yes, you are right, the common contender to a Les Paul would be a stratocaster. So why didn’t you post "Les Paul vs. Stratocaster?"

I wasn’t bitching at you. GJ. I was just pointing out that if you’re going to talk like a guitar expert, you shouldn’t say dumb stuff like "Les Paul vs. Fender."

don’t mind my ranting, i had 2 pots of coffee and 42 sleepless hours in my system. The best resolution to any conflict is a shrug and a ‘meh.’

meh.

The plank i spank is a Les Paul.

Unfortunatly it’s an Epiphone. I would like the Gibson Les Paul Voodoo (same guitar with a fast neck, slightly different pick-ups and an amazing paintjob) but i have about $40 and it is all going, along with andthing else i can get, to christmas presents. 🙁

I don’t really like the electric guitar sound especialy distorded. Its ok but imo I think classical owns. I have a Co’rdoba and Fender classical nylon string. And as far as eletric I have a telecaster and a strat. The strat was my first guitar and my best looking because my brother painted it with these black and silver star effects for me after he bought it so its a one of kind.

More freedom of playing and overall sound with electrics, imo.

Jackson and ESP guitars for me, no finer. The only problem, as with most guitar makers, is that you have to be spending over $800 to get a good one. But Samick and Ibanez make some quality low-range models, particularly Samick.

It sucks so much htat Fender have bought Jackson, the bastards!
