I dont know if you haven’t noticed, but its always "Guy save Girl, Girl falls in love, then happy sappy ending."

I mean come on Square, elaborate on something better. Something like:

Girl falls in love with Girl (Vice versa)

1 Childs game or whatnot. There was an anime in Japan thats for kids called "Shoujo Kakumei Utena" (Revolutionary Girl Utena) and it also had the movie. One girl played the prince, the other played princess. It projected to be Girl-Girl love.

There was already some impiled lesbian action in FFX-2 and we don’t need that shit in another FF game.Guy saves Girl is too overused. Girl saves guy would be somewhat of a change. (i think the good/perfect ending had that with Yuna and Tidus)

A storyline like: Main Charcter: Guy or Girl, could be a poor person in a city and one day he finds out about an evil plot about his country., and meets a bunch of people and brings his/her girlfreind/boyfreind with them on an adventure to stop their counrty’s plot.

(Hell that was tough to make up a storyline and I can spot some cliches in there, hey it’s not my job to make up story lines.)

I think you’re getting a little too dramatic. There are other tiny things that they could do to make it different too

1) Choose who your main character falls in love with. I hate the fact that if you hate the heroine your character is doomed to fall in love with her rather than some of the girls you liked. Kind of like what 7 did with the Gold Saucer date only a few steps forward

2) Bring back secret characters, they’ve only done that in 6 and 7… and look at how great 6 and 7 is (not saying its the secret characters that made them great but it does make you wonder)

3) Replayability and New Game Plus features.

4) More of that subtle character revelations that you have to pay attention to notice. Stuff that will immerse people into it even further

5) Bring back Gold Saucer type place where people can go to play "fun" mini-games

6) Be able to customize your Airship or build your own FF town

If they incorporated most of these, I think they could make another really kickass FF game

And I don’t know I think FFX was pretty creative. It wasn’t something everyone was expecting. Perhaps they should just make a game where the main character remains a loner forever

Well, this certainly would be an interesting twist. It wouldn’t be like other FFs, and the hero would have to choose between saving the world or killing his beloved one. That would be really cool. I once had a dream where I played a game that went as follows:

Each character had his or her own item list, and when available playable characters exceeded 4, as well has having the option to switch members in and out of the party, there was the option to split the party in two. If there was more than one party, it gameplay switched back and forth between parties every battle. If a party stays the night at the inn or in a tent, it only passed back and forth between non-resting parties for a period of time or until all parties were resting, whichever came first.

Story: Very cliche at first. Knight comes into Kingdom in the company of his Squire finds the kingdom’s princess has been kidnapped, and an old blood enemy is trying to destroy the kingdom. Knight rescues the princess, then rescues the kingdom. The knight weds the princess and settles down for a while, but after that he becomes restless. He thought he would go to the country where his father was killed and avenge his father and retrieve his father’s sword, but now he’s wed a beautiful princess, attained wealth and fame, but he never found the person who slew his father. But he did happen upon from men who met his father, that the sword he carried was a magical weapon that only someone related to the line of it’s forger could weild, and that ever it’s current weilder should die, it will return to the shrine where it was forged.

Becoming ever restless at the thought that his father’s murderer is still out there, and the idea that what he saved the kindom from wasn’t truly a great evil but merely a minion of a greater evil, the knight finally sets out to leave the kingdom and return to his homeland where the sword will be found. He and his squire set out on a ship, but the the princess follows along, refusing to let her husband leave on a perilous quest alone, and her nurse-maid follows along, hoping she could keep her lady out of trouble. Shortly out of port, the ship is attacked by pirates. Although the sailors manage to fight off the pirates, the knight is killed in the attack, and his squire is taken prisoner. . . Screw it, I’m keeping the rest to myself and writing my own rpg. lol.

Aren’t they planning a new story line with a new final fantasy coming out in 2005? That’s what i heard. Something about a war between two cities and there is a city stuck in the middle. I forget.

Let Square do their job. They did a very good and satisfiying one so far. And if you want to complain about these kind of "save the world" plots look at other games and start to realize that these kinds of RPG�s are like that.
And it�s always wonderful for me to see that Square was able to make a whole new world and storyline around this "save the world". It�s more dramatic if everything is at stake!
Who would get excited about buying milk, otherwise the cake won�t be made?

And having girls as main characters is really not bad. There are not many games with this. Not yet!

Meanwhile, u and your people is tryn to stop em from takin over the world, and u meet somebody and fall madly in love, and yall is all happy an lovey dovey fightin together to stop these two people, and then near the end, u kill the bad guy’s only tru love, and he decide hes got nothin to live for, so at first he decide to destroy the world or somthin but then decide that it would hurt u more if he just killed your one tru love and spared everybody else, so he does and then goes into hiding and u jus cant take it, so u go crazy and decide that the only way to get him is to dstroy the world, so u now become the bad guy chasin the same power the other bad guy wuz chasin to destroy the world wit, while your other freinds try to stop u but u win and u destroy the world, the bad guy dies in the destruction, and u beat the game.

I like that idea! But I also think that RPGs do have that same storyline. and Square does an awesome job keeping us interested in such a cliche storyline, so that sais something about how good square really is!

The fact that each Final Fantasy game has similaritys such as the basic setup of guy saves girl, girl falls in love, they save the world; is a trademark of the series and is what makes it successful, becasue you know what to expect. But the games still each posess a unique and compelling storyline with twists, relationship complexitys, and a host of other things new to each installment. Compaire 7,8,9+10.

Nice graphics.
Cool battle system.

Yeah the damn love story is ALWAYS the same, byt the rest of the plots are extremly interesting. Take FFX for example, the plot was so amasing, I could hardly believe it. I mean Sin, Al Bhed, The temples, Aeons, SEYEMOUR!!!!! It was sooooooooo coooooool! The plot was twisten and well thought out so it all tied together! YAY! Though the love story was the same, so what, the plot rocked. Though I think they should put lesbien/gay love stories in too, as there are lesbien/gay/both in the real world!

It’s a little cliche-y, butI’d like it if you had to do a bunch of work for a kingdom or side or something fighting someone else, and then somehow it turns out that you were helping out the "bad guys," so you join up with the people you were fighting, and then you realize that they too are bad, so you go and destroy the world before it destroys itself. or somethin’

well…imo an interesting story could be about the player not starting as the hero but a bad guy like Sephiroth was who just before his final victory realizes that there’s a much bigger fish out there that needs to be defeated. The player could for example have a "fight against himself" (fight taking place in the main character’s mind against a shadow of himself using the same abilities, techs and even battle tactics the player has learned/used before) at the point where he changes sides but will have to regain trust from the different cities of the world he has harrasses before…

Another idea I just had is something like in Chrono Trigger where the main character and the bad guy just change their bodies…(you are playing almost a third of the game in the bad guy’s body)

(incase similar stories have been there in the classic FFs I must say that I only know the series from FF7 without spinoffs ^^)
