Cactaur/Tonberry King

okay Cactaur:

you have to use laviathen to get him right? if not what do you do?

and Tonberry King:

how much health does he have and if you run from him do you have to kill another 18 tonberrys? because seriously i can’t be asked to do it i spent ages try on it today and it was seriously boring killing one tonberry after the other

to get Jumbo Cactaur you have to fly Ragnarock to a small isle that has a funny green shape bobbing around. Leviathan is useful in the fight because J.C is weak against water. other than that the fight is a slugfest. and watch out for 10,000 needles the damage wont be reduced (enough) by spells like shell and protect.

the offical strategy is to have one member with the revive ability, one with leviathan and the other using the most powerful magic/attacks possible

Use the Revive character to keep your fighters alive ( do not attack with this character) one of your fighters should contiuously cast Leviathan the other just keep attacking.

Eventually a message will appear saying Jumbo Cactuar is hesitating. You MUST kill him quickly otherwise he’ll run away (J.C has between 6000-60000 Hp)

As for Tonberry, as long as you dont leave the tower, you should be ok, otherwise yeah you’ll have to fight all 18-22 Tonberrys

Tonberry King has 2500- 250 000 Hp

the offical guide just says this, counter T.K’s Speed advantage with haste spells, then use one character to heal the team ( T.K should have Full -life and Curaga ) also make sure your team are at max compatability with their GFs ( you don’t want to waste a second against this guy) also T.K is weak against Ice so junction this to your atk.

Lastly don’t bother trying to cast Diabolos (T’k is immune to gravity)

That’s not true. You may leave and save as many times as you want and the count won’t be lost.

okay thanks but one more thing if you flee from Tonberry King… (I did all my people where dead ‘cept for Zell and and he didn’t have life/full life so we ran) so will i have to kill another 18-22 tonberrys? coz i takes time 🙂

Yeah, I guess you’ll have to kill them again. I’ve never tried it myself, but I would assume that to be true.

The Tonberry was easy. Too bad I can’t say the same for Cactaur

To get Tonberry, you should go and get Odin at first, because then you can take your time with getting the Tonberry King. 😉

You need to kill 20 Tonberrys. After that, Tonberry King shows up. You can do a few battles, get outside, save the game, and go back in there. In case you die, you don’t have to start from the beginning again. 🙂

For the Jumbo Cactuar, I say forget this Leviathan stuff. Just cast Meltdown and pound with Renzokuken / Lionheart and Irvine’s Pulse or AP Ammo.

I agree. Leviathan is effective against him. That and Diablos.

okay i finally got’em both and just to tell people who aren’t sure you can run from Tonberry King and just kill 2 normal Tonberrys after and then Tonberry King will show up, so once you kill the second one he’ll show as i said 🙂 remember only after you’ve killed 18-22 tonberrys this will happen 🙂

You have to kill 20 normal Tonberrys exactly before Tonberry King shows up. I know that, because I’m always counting them. I go outside, save the game a few times, and then I will know exactly when he’ll show up. You can save right before you fight him, if you want. But make sure, you have fought 20 Tonberrys at first. 😉

Diablos I think takes over 9,000 hp bc Cactaur has a lot of hp?

a good way to kill the normal tonberrys is to stick quistis on kill her revive her with life and use limit micro missiles makes tonberrys so much easuier but you need to heal her on the last one or poof

for catuar meltdown leviathan renzokuken triple /water always a good combo laso quistis aqua breath causes major damage as well

I used Quistis micro missiles, too. This is a pretty good limit skill anyway. Not only useful on killing Tonberrys….. 😉

i got jumbo on disc 2 along with odin and tonberry

he’s right. there’s no way you can get to that seperate island beside khashabald desert without the ragnorak, which you get on disc 3.

I got Jumbo Cactuar as soon as I had the Ragnarok, and by that time, I had already gotten so much magic and made my stats so ridiculous, the battle was a piece of cake. I just put Spd+40%, Auto-Haste, and Str+40% on Squall, used meltdown on J.C., and Junctioned water to Squall’s elemental attack. He got a turn in less than 2 seconds, and every physical attack did 9999. The battle took me all of five minutes.

what level is your party?when I got odin I got tornberry as well I just kept attack use summons so it’s your summon that get damage not you also for that cactuar you need to just do the same method it works really and I only had to try once I did that with ultimate weapon as well but I did not need to cause my party was already level 91 so I could have kill him anyways just by attacking which I did getting eden
