However, your placing is horrible. If any Roman saw that number, they would run you through with a Gladius.
The reason you see numbers like MCMXCVIII on movies is for a reason – M is 1000. C is 100. Because the C is followed by an M, it means the second letter minus the first one – there fore MCM is 1900. X is 10, so XC is 90. Therefore, MCMXCVIII is 1998.
XXXCIIIXXXXXXIIIIICCCVVII would actually be MCDXCII… which, incidentally, is 1492.
