help – bug in yuffie sidequest (wutai)

In the yuffie sidequest, at the time where i am supposed to pull the switch in the basement, it dosent let me pull it, the menu does not appear when it should. Yuffie is also blocking the door so there is no way out.

I am running the PC version, in windows XP, with the XP patch. I have seen that bug mentionned elsewhere, but with no solution. The guy who posted about it said he just reloaded a save from before going on the island, and that when he came back later in the game the bug was gone. The problem is that i have no saves from before so i am stuck, and will have to restart the game if no one knows how to fix this :\

Very sensitive spot. From my experience, the menu was also very stubborn. Had to move Cloud 1mm at a time and try pressing ENTER countles number of times…finally it worked.
