have any of you guys made your own FF RPG? nintento style i mean. like the first ones. i was going to but instead i think im just going to make my FF fanfic whatever a story. and plus, something i wanna do with mine can’t be done with the old RPGs unless i make it which i could never do so..

somebody did make the graphic animation for summoning tho, so it’s possible if anyone wants to.

how and where do you get these game-making programmes or whatever they are?

game emulators are illegal, you know – the things where you can play nintendo or PS1 on your computer and games are called ROMs. well you get the stuff (umm somewhere on teh internet) to make one and you can play it on an emulator, regular or super nintendo id say. it’s old RPGs. a guy made one called RM2Kemon and it was a big parody of pokemon, hilarious. sorry i cant give ya direct places to go but search engines work wonders.

Emulators are not illegal in the slightest.

Neither are roms. If you download a rom, you have 24 hours to use it. Either way, if it is deleted, you are fine.

If you own the game, then you may keep it as long as you want.

There’s not an actual law to cover that – that’s just the ‘thing’ that people have come to believe.

In reality, there hasn’t been a high profile ROM case – the most you see out there is several cease-and-desist orders. Most notable was Sony’s cease-and-desist shutdown of Bleem, because Sony copyrighted the PlayStation’s BIOS (which the emulator uh… emulates).

You also see Nintendo pulling down N64 rom sites fairly often.

RPGMaker, anyone?

that’s what i was trying to get at. haha sorry. isn’t there a RPGmaker2000?

There’s an RPGMaker 2000, and an RPGMaker 95, and an RPGMaker 2003, and there will be an RPGMaker XP.
Although most fans online treat these programs like freeware, and an English version of the 2000er floats around and is widely used, it’s not legal to download them. Enterbrain said so much on their website.
You can hope that XP will somehow find its way outside of Japan, but I wouldn’t really count on it… o_o

However, there are a lot of really free RPGMakers out there. Only two days ago I stumbled across this website with links to several makers (http://www.rpg-maker.com/links_kostenlose_rpg-maker.php), it’s probably worth examing those.

Hmmm… I better move this to the RPG forum, since it’s not really anything to do with… Fiction, or Poetry. Unless you make a game about a poet. Erh. Or, anyone disagree? It’s somehow borderline, I suppose. T_T Could be everywhere. T_T

Rpg Makers are cool but no i havent ever actually made my own FF style rpg. Too bad i say. anways yeah.
