red XIII cat or dog?

as much as everyone says it, i don’t think red XIII is a feline. i mean he howled like a dog and stuff. i dunno, what do you think?

Hmm… he’s "designed", I guess you could say, like a cat. But, his attitude makes him like a dog. Kinda hard to choose!

Well, given that he isn’t CONFIRMED a cat or dog, a beast would most certainly describe him. If you read the Instruction Book, it says "Red XIII. Occupation: Beast".
But, "beast" is pretty vague. He could have a name from the planet that game is on (9:Gaia, X: Spira, etc.). Like, he could be a "Cosmo Canyon Lamarino" (I just made up that name, so it’s kinda dumb), and a "Lamarino" isn’t a dog OR a cat, it is its own thing.

I don’t know why some people want to absolutely know what is Nanaki..it is not a dog nor a cat. So Eikofan69 is right.

I love cat’s too! I think Red XIII is a lion; his body is more in form of a cat, his face is like a cat, and his tail is like a lions.

It’s confusing on what he is, because he does also howl like a dog, and the kids in the Costa Del Sol scene call it a dog. It’s like a kitty barking hee hee. Better yet, Red XIII is probably a CatDog;

He really isnt either. Probably just some made-up species, ’cause neither a cat nor a dog has an awesome firetail! (unless of course you make it that way) I think he’s based on a lion, but just a made-up species.

I think that Red is part lion, part wolf/dog. He looks like a lion but he howls.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa! Sephiroth, calm down; these are just theories we are having on what his specie came from. We don’t know.

I know that you don’t know. What I’m trying to say is I don’t think he is either kind of specie in a way Sephiroth probably would say that. My personal opinion is that he is really cool. Nanaki is a wolf, he has cubs not kittens. Domestic dogs are really wolves just domestic.
