Feel free to rant- this thread will be more entertaining that way. ^^
Also, please don’t flame anyone because they dislike something you like.
Lemme see.. Virtua Fighter & Monster Rancher. I hate the animation and the characters.
Kimera, see it and you’ll cry for torturing yourself. I mean c’mon. Vampires being aliens, that’s bullshit.
Eh, vampires as aliens isn’t necessarily bad. There’s a pretty good novel about a vampiric sort of race existing on Mars I read a few years back.
Worst anime eh?

I thought Monster Rancher was one of the better Pokemonish cartoons.
As for the worst I’ve seen… I don’t remember too many that I seriously disliked or that were badly done(I’m kinda picky about what I check out =|)… but it was probably "Art of Fighting". A real shame too, since I love the characters in that game almost as much as Fatal Fury.=\
Aside from that, I thought the Escaflowne movie was pretty awful. Dagger of Kamui sucked pretty bad also.
Dragon Ball Z was ok for a while, the concept of being able to blow up a planet within a few seconds after collecting 100 tons of energy while the veins poped out of your muscles and screaming something like KAMEHAMEHA!
And that’s only training ^ because there’s always some dude that comes along that’s ten times stronger, an attack like that doesn’t leave a scratch while he laughs in your face, I always thought that sounded like fun, fighting on a god like level was an everyday thing.
But alas there were numerous problems with DBZ, one of which has how stretched it was, I actually remember watching an episode with no fighting or important dialogue, the entire episode was…. waiting….. waiting for Goku to show up…. they were all just sitting there……………… 30 minutes people……. waiting…………
I thought Monster Rancher was one of the better Pokemonish cartoons.
Nah, I could still tolerate Pokemon, but not Monster Rancher. Well at least the opening and ending songs of Monster Rancher aren’t bad, LOL.
Um…Fushigi Yuugi has a really bad ending. It seems like the creator suddenly went downhill with it and decided to hurry up and wrap up the ending.
awww, I love Fushigi Yugi. 🙁
Suppose your complaint is a valid one though.
stuff like hamtaro for children i guess is better for littel kids then stuff like pokemon.
Hamtaro the name says it all i mean who would wanna watch a show about stupid little hamsters besides little kids anyway.
and pokemon the games r pretty good the show is not that good i mean u have the same eniemes over and over it get old after awhile.
Dragon Ball Z.
Yeah, DBZ is definatley the worst anime ever.
the most terrible anime of all fricken time has got to be sailor moon god its got the worst story line bad animations and it reminds me way to much of america or a country like that. just plain terrible.
Well, the Sailor Moon they show on TV is super americanized. "Bodacious hunkimiester" isn’t the sort of thing that Usagi would say. I get a kick out of it though.
That said, I’m not a huge fan of the Sailor Moon anime, but I still think the manga is spectacular.

that and they removed the made the lesbians "close cousins" and made one of the bad-guys from the bad gay-couple into a girl o.O
stupid Americanizations >:

Haha, I get a kick of that too.
The worst anime-series I have ever seen has to be a draw between Dragon Ball and/or Full Metal Panic. Hmm… Frankly, FMP is the worst, because Akira Toriyama’s characters are quite unforgettable. (I love what he did in Chrono Trigger, probably the greatest game-cast ever.) I don’t really know why, though. I guess it is because FMP had irritating music, a strange undeveloped storyline and really boring characters, from my point of view. These are only my opinions, though, so feel free to hate them.< ^.^ >
Oh it’d have to be Blue Gender.
Literally made me wanna gag. >_>
i still hate bayblade……eeeeeyuck!
i like the first seasons of Sailor Moon but later the story get somehow strange and so i dont liek the later seasons.
whats really sad is that theyve showen here in germany just the first season of Ranma 1/2. i love that one ^.^
but now they bring Inu Yasha so i can life with that *smile*
here if we get an anime(we do every so often) and it stops, it just stops….no more anime for us!!
but ive been hearing a lot of Inu Yasha…looks cool….the only anime we’ve got at the moment is Gasaraki…and that on at 5:20am so i cant watch it………..:(
got detectiv conen, bayblade, still pokemon, yu go oh, inu yasha, and dont ask me what else. and sometimes in the evening they bring anime moves such as X the movie, silent Mbius etc.
yeps if i find time i watch good stuff of it that i like.
i thought NGE is good that if seen the last episodes i waited for the great "end" fight and then the storyline got more and more
about the psyche of the char. didnt liked it in the end :/.
normaly manga cost here about 5. whats about your countrys?
and dbz isnt that bad of an anime you would agree after seeing every episode around 10 times
Punctuation. Learn it.
Aside from that, if you can actually watch every episode of dbz ten times, you’re already a hopeless fanboy. I hated it once. Why should I even consider subjecting myself to it again?
but i would never see the episodes in tv because somehow there they arent act so good as if you see them on video.
i like dbz its "oldschool"
I’d hardly call dbz oldschool. Oldschool would be way back in the days long before computer animation when colors were less glossy and mechanical designs had sharper lines.
many people say its stupid or anything but iliek the idea of it, okay the way its drawen is odd but its made for the folk that like that way of drawing and the mainpoint of that anime/manga are the fights and the "extrem mannish" characters.
good anime…..like the characters….but they could have put more in the episodes…….haha i liked chi chi!
i also liked that fact that they had tails…..or was that just the little one?
The only people who could possibly regard it as a classic are the delusional testosterone-drunk fanboys who had never seen any anime before it, so consequently think the genre is all about yelling and ludicrously big explosions.
Now if you narrowed it down to what genres you liked, then…
Gasaraki was cool too…though…it confused me alittle…..it was about a guy and a girl that controlled these big robot/god things…i cand recall what they were called, but the 2 people were called ‘Kai’s’….all they did was stare into everything……
but cool anyways!

Gasakari is a bit like Lain in that you have to pay a lot of attention and watch every episode if you really want things to make sense.
DBZ is somewhat entertaining, but calling it classic is a bit ridiculous. It’s basically responsible for making anime as popular as it is over here, and I give it credit for that, but it’s got nothing to offer story, character, or animation wise.
And how is an anime from the 90’s old school?
DBZ didnt make anime popular over here……and if it did, it just brought in all the gay stuff like pokemon and digimon and bayblade(gaggs)….man i hate those things!
if you ask me many of the good anime are "older once" because they where somehow unique.
i just hate that anime that trying to make littel kids dump and without a sake, so they buy a lot of stupid and expensiv toys!!
For me:
1.Yu yu Hakasho
2.Beyblade
3.Tenchi Muyo
4.Sailor Moon
5.Astro Boy
.
….
…… no wait mebbe Digimon even as a kid it annoyed the hell out of me.
…..wtf were they thinking?!?!?
BEYBLADE!!!! LET IT RIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
…..wtf were they thinking?!?!?

Proofread!
bayblade stinks
yugioh so so
i also watch a american anime call groove sqaud. a cheerleading super-hero transforming anime? oh come on!
There are people who love the show very much… others hate it. But the "It’s too quiet" is a new complaint, to me…
Personally, I think ‘Ghost in the Shell’ was a yawn fest.
Ah, someone who shares my impression. =D I still believe that it would be unfair of me to judge GitS, after all it entirely isn’t my sort of anime, and I gave up reading the manga after a couple of pages, because the thing didn’t give me anything at all…
So I cannot really remember what part of my indifference and yawniness came from the fact that I didn’t like story/setting/world/genre, or from the bad dub, or from the way it was presented…
…
The only Shirow work I’ve liked is Appleseed, and I’m definitely excluding the old cartoon from that comment.
A really lame one I saw recently was Miami Guns.
I like the Lupin manga myself.
I wasn’t too empressed with the anime Lupin. It looked more like American cartoons than anime(about 80% of it). I didn’t like the animation.
I think you’re probably just not used to the look of some older japanese cartoons.
I think you’re probably just not used to the look of some older japanese cartoons.
I’ve seen older animes and not all of them look like that.
Any anime with the words "Dragon" and "Ball" in the title.
*Ahem*
I mean, too much incessant yelling and stuff. Plus boring and way too repetitive.
Next to that, though, I’d have to say… Gundam Wing.
*prepares for the onslaught of disagreement on that last one*
Oh, wait, Nymph isn’t a member here, anymore. I’m safe. XD

That’s right. Most series tend to have unique styles. =|

Yeah, that was unbearable.
I like Dragon Ball though… I don’t like how the cartoon was managed and think the comic ran several years too long(the creator wanted to stop and the higher ups said "NO"), but I like it.
Also, would the old Voltron cartoon be considered anime? Reason I ask is because my memory of it seems like old style anime, like Ronin Warriors or something. Voltron doing things that you typically didn’t see in American cartoons, like cutting enemies in half and shit.
I know it has to have been said by now in this thread, but I can’t be arsed to read it all.

That was a low blow odin lol
but I would have to agree. Most of the gundam wings series are basically the same story…just with different cast, I would say different place but that’s not always the case, and different gundams….it’s a bit of nothingness to me, thus the reason I traded "endless waltz" for some prime TRANSFORMERS!!!!
I prefer Macross to Gundam series, myself.

Yeah, Voltron was an anime. It was originally called "Go Lion". (Go=5… though maybe they intended for it to have a double meaning)
And Gundam Wing and a lot of the other Gundam series that were shown out here were just "alternate reality!" cash-in follow ups to the excellent original series. =\
That’s right. Most series tend to have unique styles. =|
Some of the older animes I liked myself were Robotech/Macross and Project A-ko. Or Iczer One.
Pokemon was the most Americanized animes I remember. Damn them Americanizations! That’s what made me hate Pokemon.

When I said older, I meant shows that came out around a decade or so before macross, around the early seventies. Like Lupin did.

Such as a 70’s right? Well, seeing some pictures of Astroy Boy(50’s I think) does look really good for old anime. But I’m sure all cartoons looked like that back then. That looks real cool. No you are right, I haven’t seen any anime earlier than the 80’s. Might be fun to try being a dedicated otaku as myself ;). I don’t know much anime in 70’s, but there’s this one anime I keep forgeting the name of where all the characters are dressed like piolits(how do you spell that again?) and there capes are like birds. I keep forgeting the name of it, but it looks cool!
You’re thinking of Gatchaman.
I think that’s the name. Thanks!
Sorry, back on topic.

You actually saw Iczer-One? Wow. I was beginning to think I was the only person in North America who knew about that one. It’s hard as hell to find.
When I said older, I meant shows that came out around a decade or so before macross, around the early seventies. Like Lupin did.
I thought the original MS Gundam series came out in the mid 70’s, and that Macross was older than that, though. Or did I just get them backwards or something?

Yeah, I always rented it from Blockbuster back in middle school! I watched it over and over again! I thought I was the only person who knew about it too in America!
and, like, Ninja Scroll(s?) was pretty dire.
I wouldn’t say yugioh is the worst anime but it’s like a dick war ‘Kaiba "my blues eyes is now 100 points stronger than yours"’
I never liked Kaiba either. He always thought he was better than everyone because he was rich. I don’t like that.
I’m going with…. Hamtaro! I couldn’t stand that show! Everytime one of those hamsters showed up on my TV screen I just wanted to stab myself with a fork.
"Hamtaro is nothing more then sexually based crap made by some demented pervert with a disgusting fetish for hamsters" ~ Me when the show first came on CN.

That is pretty…well…incorrect on a few levels. You can say its a terrible show and I’ll respect it because its your own opinion, but the fact that your statement was based off the assumption that they were rip offs of Gundam…well…Robotech came out about the same time as Gundam did it not? So how, per se, did they rip off Gundam? Also, I’ve seen a few of the Gundam serieses and Robotech and Macross plus, and short of them having mechs in both and your basic anime simularities such as person with an unreal hair color, there really aren’t THAT many things that could even be considered close to the same to hint at any sort of "ripping off" took place.
Also, I tend to disregard Robotech (except in its historical significance) because it’s just a jumbled mishmash of three different shows. I would prefer to acknowledge those shows individually.
I never got into Robotech or Macross much beyond what I saw when I was younger.Macross Plus through me off with the music video battle at which point I ran around asking everyone that remembered if the cartoon actually had that sort of thing in it. My brother did get a handheld macross game from japan in 85 though and that thing was awesome. He never let me play it though =\ It crapped all over the LCD Ninja Turtle and Double Dragon games I got a few years later.
I never thought of it as a Gundam rip off though. On the topic of gundam and ripping off, however, Zeta Gundam stole from Heavy Metal L-Gaim: most notably the 30th bunch colony(Gundam) vs. the yaman clan(L Gaim). I think Tomino was involved with L Gaim but not with the writing of it.
Sailormoon, Pokemon, Yugioh and a few more I can’t remember (and I’m quite glad I can’t remember).
I find them to be disgraceful to the name anime.
