But be warned, the anime is HEAPS better than the manga… Funnier, prettier, longer, with more characters and it also makes more sense. 🙂

I wasn’t impressed by the Slayers manga for one reason reason: the art. It was all jumbled and confused with lots of pointlessly contrasting detail that made it hard to tell just what you should be looking at. I practically had to go over it with a microscope to figure out what’s what.
I haven’t read the original novels so I don’t know how they measure up, but the manga is vastly inferior to the anime version.

By the way, didn’t I read somewhere that the novels were to be released in the USA? Because that would well be worth a try, try for the original story.

It’s disapointing to hear that the Slayers manga isn’t all that good. Slayers was one of the first animes I got really into, and I was really looking forward to reading the manga- I was hoping it’d be as funny a read as Excel Saga. =/

Yep, I was the same when I picked it up since Slayers was one of the earliest ones I saw. I was quite saddened by the retina-burning artwork, but we always have the anime version to fall back on.

Slayers has got to be one of the best anime out there with it’s continous line of comedic situation over food, new evil nemesis that has wicked plot to take over the world or of using Lina, and great song with the thanks to Megumi Hayashibara! Although, I have read one Slayers manga, but was somewhat disappointed because it lacks a little bit of comedy that usual compare to the anime! But the best thing of Slayers has got to be of how the situation never repeat from anything that they have done or other anime out there!

And what show is this you’re talking about again?? Slayers was full of cliches. Sure they were usually funny, but they were cliches…
But if you haven’t seen much anime, then I suppose you might not recognize them.
