What are your thoughts on fisher bots? To add to that, many have said that it’s legal to fish bot as long as you’re on the keyboard as you’re fishing. Though it doesn’t go against the ToS for playing without you being in control, I think it would affect the 3rd Party Software dealie thing… if there was one.

Personally, I don’t have anything against Fisher Bots, in the end, it’s not hurting anyone at all. People need Lu Shang rods, they provide the Moat Carps for em.. and if they’re aiming for the Lu Shang rods themselves, it keeps the people who are selling bait happy.

Bots inevitably ruin some part of a game, so I’m completely opposed to them.

I saw it first in Ultima Online when people would run macro bots for everything from tailoring to item duping. That trashed the economy so badly that money was almost worthless afterwards.

After that, I moved to Asheron’s Call, which eventually went at least as bad. Mage bots would camp the best dungeons and attack anything that moved, killing the xp for everyone else. On top of that, these people that ran macros all day became insanely powerful. It ruined the PvP system because macroers were the only ones who could compete.

Dark Age of Camelot suffered from crafting bots causing devaluation of goods.

Star Wars Galaxies has people who keep bots running so they can get their jedi character. Many (if not most) jedi in that game were made illegally.

I’ve only just started FFXI, so I don’t even know how much I like it yet, but if I see bots ruining this one, I may never bother with another MMORPG again.

Typo cannot see how a bot would directly "ruin" anything for anyone, or seriously affect the economy..

I do, however, have something against people who use them, and don’t associate myself with them if I know they do.

I take pride in earning every little thing that I have, through spending time, effort, and money to make more money. I don’t like to think that there are people out there who can earn as much, more, and triple what Typo can earn in the same amount of time, by doing absolutely no work at all whatsoever.

Ish not at all an issue of jealousy, if it at all sounds that way–it’s principle. Time = money, and quite frankly the rule applies far less to botters, seeing as they run a program to cover the "time" aspect for them.

It’s against the ToS to use something like the program that allows you to loop macros.

But if you were using a turbo controller to spam your fishing macros over and over again while you were still at the keyboard, then you’d be fine.

Personally, I’d rather see GMs cracking down on voke bots. I suppose that’s harder to do though.
