Furthermore Square is doing ff7 advent children;) I think it’s enough…
Well ff7 advent children seems to be a wonderful film;)
I’m sure that beefing up the graphics, and being able to hear Cloud and others speak would be cool. But, that could very well diminish the overall quality of the game. I say just leave it like it is, because even though it is not going to knock your socks off with graphics or voice acting, that is why this game should remain untouched. It has earned its reputation the right way: not using graphics and the advancements in today’s technology to boost its appeal.
ff8 would be far more suitable for a remake imo as it is not as "sacred" among fans, and voices would really help the story since it is far more personal and characterdriven than ff7.
How many of us can honestly say we wouldn’t like to see the game with graphics equal to FFX and faithfully reanimated FMVs? I don’t see a problem with it as long as they preserve the story and gameplay elements that truly made the game great.
I think Square would understand the line they’d have to walk to make everyone happy and not go too far.
Then there’s the fact that it would draw in a lot of people who never played it in its original form. That’s a lot of extra revenue for Square, which can in turn be spent making new FFs.

I don’t want to see it.
I mean, if Square said they were going to remake FFVI with all new graphics, I would complain too. The graphics are an integral part to the feel and the atmosphere of the game. It lends to the nature of the game in question, and gives it a character. I don’t want to see FFVII or any other FF toyed with in this way.
(Although they did with FF1 and FF2, but I didn’t play those on the NES, so I guess it makes a difference.)
And anyway, I never said Square should stop marketing the old version. I see absolutely no reason why they couldn’t coexist.
plus another reason they should remake it is u kno how the r making an FFVII Advent Children? mayb if they remade FFVII for PS2 more people would wanna c that 2?
If you don’t mind, I’m gonna shove this into FFVII forum, so it doesn’t get too confusing. 🙂
Good Idea Misao
Otherwise people will complain about how Square ruined Final Fantasy VII with piss poor voice acting and taking away the feel of the graphics.
you’re right. FFx was brilliant but like most voice-acted games, all the voices are stereotypical USA voices (i’m not being racist).
i think that the speech bubbles in FF1-9 were brilliant anyway. any comments?

I didn’t see a problem with the voices themselves. At many points, the acting left a lot to be desired, but that’s another issue entirely.
If the English voices were stereotypical, aren’t the Japanese voices also stereotypical? The game doesn’t have any kind of real world cultural elements that get lost in translation, so I don’t see how it was a problem.
As for speech bubbles, they’re all right (a little too hard to skip in most cases), but Square has always tried to keep their games advancing with technology. They used speech bubbles because there was no other way to do it. They didn’t use voice acting then because they couldn’t. Now they can.
Anyway, as I’ve stated before, there are people who would like to see FFVII updated and those who would not. I think a perfect compromise would be reached by remaking it, but keeping the original version available for anyone who doesn’t want to play the new one.

i agree, especially in the Lifestream sequence in Mideel!
sorry if i was being a bit picky, but I preferred the speech bubbles and yes, if SquareSoft had tried making voice acting in FF7, it would have been about 8 discs long, seen as though DVDs are about the sizer of 6 discs (i think, correct me if im wrong!)
Now here’s a good question for you. If a PS2 remake of FFVII was released, would you be able to resist the temptation to try it out, even if you were opposed to the idea? And be honest.
no, of course I would, because I love Final Fantasy VII and all Final Fantasy’s and I’m sure I would enjoy it. Its just then everyone would forget about the original which may be better, unless they added things instead of just remaking the game identically.
i would play it no matter what
1. if thay remade it thay would have to change a lot of stuff so every thing we seen and FF7 for the PS mit not be there in the PS2 ver.
2.thay allready talked about makeing FF7 FF8 and FF9 for the PS2
but thay said there not going to
if thay can pull it off without changeing nothing it would be cool
but that would be hard to pull off and I dont what to see no changeing in FF7 and thay would have to make some for the PS2 ver.
Cloudfan so that why
so no thay dont need to remake or any FF
becase i dont what to see any changes in any of tham
btw if thay did to pull if off thay dont have to do voice overs
However, the retro look really kinds of fits in with FF7…Final "Fantasy"…makes it seem "Fantasy". Screenshots of the newer FF looked too "real" if you get what I mean…just doesn’t look like "fantasy". What I’m demanding isn’t really "that" major and isn’t worth the millions of $$$ a redesign of the graphics would incur.
If they redevelop FF7, it might be a hit with the new generation of gamers who were not present back in 1997 but might be an eyesore for people who already know the original and vice versa.
As for Advent Children, I would be on the lookout on its release. However, from the (Japanese) trailer, it seems to have a lot of motorcycle sequences which I wasn’t too amused (I really, REALLY hated the motorcycle mini-game). I also didn’t like Tifa’s voice unfortunately. Barrett is probably the best rendered character but looks too young for a 30+ year old.
(BTW, Kingdom Hearts is an AMAZING game, I recommend any FF fan to play it…)
Personally I’d like to see a revamped version of FF7, better graphics, voices, but no changes to the storyline… thats bad. 😉
(Hell, maybe even new music- but then again, Nobuo’s(SP?) music is one of the things that made FF7 great.)
On voices- The people who did voices for Kingdom Hearts were magnificent, although it was suprising that Lance Bass(guy from either Nsync or BS Boys, dont know, dont really care :p ) did the voice for Sephiroth. You’d think he’d have a highy pitched girly voice. =) Steve Burton did Cloud’s voice, and it was superb.

i didnt mean change the storyline the game
if thay made it for the ps2 every something would not be there that was in the PS ver.
xbox and ps2 thay get a new game there the same game but one is for the xbox and the other is for the ps2,you play it for the ps2,than you play it for the xbox
thay have the same storyline.but whan you beat it,
you wouldnt see the same suff in the ps2 and xobx ver. the both game’s
so if thay made FF7 for the PS2 not every thing would be the same
like if thay add vocie over’s the video would be longer there a change, the batte’s mit not be the same, and other thing would not be the same.if you want me to go into tell you more about the other thing that we not be the same
PM me or look it up, tho I dont see why any one wouldnt now becase ever gamer need to now if thay remade a game not every thing would be the same
that one reson Square said thay wasnt going to remake it
i still would love FF7 if thay remade it i am just saying thay would be lots of changes
However, updated graphics would be great! Someone had said something along the lines of "imagine FF7 with FFX graphics." I’m imagining, and I’m thinking about going out back and lynching myself.
FF8 and FFX characters looked like garbage. They were WAY too big for an RPG. If they remade FF7, they would have to stick with the prerendered background and do some nice 3D character modeling, but they’d have to keep the characters small and keep the colors calm. One main problem I have with these new school PS2 RPG graphics is the fact that everything is so damn colorful.
I Think you guys are thinking too far with the graphics, If they moved it to the PS2 all they would do is clean it up, get rid of the pixelated graphics, and add new character models. It would just look alot more CLEAR, As far as voice overs, If they dont work who cares?! Play the original or turn voices off, It would help squares cash pile anyway.
No, they shouldn’t. Leave it as it is. Otherwise people will complain about how Square ruined Final Fantasy VII with piss poor voice acting and taking away the feel of the graphics.
Ding ding, exactly my thoughts. They SHOULD NOT remake FFVII with enchanced anything, if they remake it atleast just remake it with a bonus disk or somthing. Remaking it with better graphics and voices will just ruin the game and I’ll more than likely end up looking down on the game because of it, many people will agree with me.
Just think of it in anime-like graphics. Kingdom hearts style! I don’t think it would lose the feel at all. In fact, if they kept the MIDIS and soundtracks and everything, I don’t see how it couldn’t work?:(
To me it would be a dream come true! I bet you anything that you would LOVE to see Cloud in his wall market dress, complaining on how he doesn’t want to wear it! And the scene in the @#$%! room..::shiver::
Another thing I would love to see is the promise between Cloud and Tifa and the Highwind scene! Not to mention Cosmo canyon.:o
