Just a thought that occurred to me: Do you note how strong the female lead characters within Final Fantasy 7 are? Normally, they’re a support role to the main character (Rosa to Cecil, for example, his love and support to give him the strength to turn to good.) But in Final Fantasy 7, Tifa and Aeris play a HUGE role in turning Cloud’s character around.

At the start of the game, Tifa convinces Cloud to stay on and fight for AVALANCHE when he’s threatening to leave for pastures new. Which kind of keeps the plot of the game rolling.

Then later on Cloud meets Aeris, and Aeris is able to break open Cloud’s cold hearted persona and awaken the decent side within him which eventually gives him the power to march on and confront Sephiroth at the end: Her memory sees him win through, and without the strength of the female leads to carry him, Cloud would never have made it to the end of the game.

Thoughts?

I always loved Tifa but Aeris did her share of work too. I agree as well.
Memories are just souls of the weak, the ones which did not fully nourish me.

of course they played a strong role… cloud was a weak ass punk… just ask barrett… he needed them cuz he couldn’t do a thing on his own… sorry, just cloud-ranting here (he’s overrated!)

We really haven’t seen that much of a role for female characters in a FF game since FFVI, and its about time too!

Ya, I agree 100%/! Tifa and Aerith helping Cloud out emotionally! What makes Tifa and Aerith even stronger, they never let their affection for Cloud get in the way of their friendship! That’s why I love Tifa & Aerith so much! If any thread would involve Tifavs.Aerith, I hope it would get closed down! I love them both so much!

I totally agree with you, TifaGirl, about how tifa and aeris never let their feelings ruin their friendship. Also Bahamut ZERO its true that with out aeris cloud couldnt have made it to the end. I also think if Aeris were still alive it wouldnt have been the same. His determination to get revenge on Sephiroth came to be as it did, partly because of her death. Tifa was always there for him when he had his mental breakdowns, (which was quite often!), like when he was searching for himself and his past.
