No, it would not be cool to combine spells and summons together, which, from what I could actually read in your post, seemed to be the general idea.
If it did happen, what do you thin would be the first thing to happen? Someone would have the bright idea of combining Flare and Ultima or something to create a superpowerful attack that did massive amounts of damage and let them beat every boss in the game easily and remove the challenge. I mean, it’d be lke in FFX where if you got every character up to 255 each stat and with break damage limit you could beat the final bosses in 1 hit.
FF games are all about the challenge, and that would not create one. I mean, if water was your strogest attack and you were up against a boss immune to water, you could just combine water with thunder to create a mega attack that killed it in about 2 blows.
