What’s the best deal you bought a game for and where?

I had to write this after getting a game earlier this week.

I had gone to my local second hand shop, and found a copy of Maximum Carnage for the SNES. Nothing unusual, except for the fact, that this was the NTSC versionm in the limited red cartridge form. Got it for $1 AUS. Pretty good considering it was just the cart, no box and no manual. Thing is, I can even beat that.

In 2002, I was with a friend inside another second hand shop (Hey, have a look around inside them, and you never know what you can find.), and saw in with the SNES games, a copy of Star Wars – Empire Strikes Back. Now, at the time, all SNES games in this store, were just the cartridges, except this one… This had the box and manual. Box was in excellent condition, as was the manual (No rips or folds in them). Even when I got the cartridge out, the cart was inside the plastic bag, all brand new SNES carts are in when you buy them. They usually sell the SNES carts, back then, for about $20 AUS. Thing is, I didn’t pay that amount for it. Because I knew the owner as well as many of the staff there, one of them sold the game, in it’s MINT condition to me for the low, low sum of….. $2 DOLLARS AUS!!!! How’s that for a good deal, considering that SNES games were no longer being sold in shops, and also the game itself.

So, what’s the best deal you bought a game for and where?

I ordered Lunar 2 in an online shop because they were in some very funny "We’re going down with the prices 5% a day". Of course all good stuff was already taken after the first few days, but I got Lunar 2 when it cost 45% less. 🙂

I bought Lunar 2 new for $20. That was $20 more than what it was worth. grumble grumble

best deal for me was finding tactics ogre PS for $4 at a blockbuster video.

I just bought Budokai for the Gamecube and Clock Tower 3 for the PS2 at a KB’S that was going out of buisness. Everything in the store, including games, was 50% off. I wish there’d been a better selection.

I don’t know all of the things i’ve bought so im just gonna list one that i remember. I wanted to buy FFX and so i first called Game force, i beleive it was, and checked the price. Apperantly it was 40-50$ for a used game. I was accually willing to buy it, thinking that that’s how much the average price for the game was at that time, which wasn’t too smart on my case. But luckily i always call a few other places to find out if i can find it cheaper and so i called Electronic Buetique and found out they were selling new ones for 10$. So yeah, i’m lucky that i have the habit to call about a little bit.

I found Lunar Legend for $20.
It’s like Lunar 1 only for the GBA and with slightly better graphics. It’s story was a little different though. But who cares? It’s PORTABLE!

I bought NBA Street Vol. 2, Final Fantasy 10, Need For Speed Underground AND a multitap with a controller for PS2 all for a pair of T-MAC 2 shoes. If you know what they are, you are probably laughing right now. What a sucker!!!!:D

well….back in the day i picked up mortal combat trilogy for the n64 for �70………….what a bargain 😡
