what happens if you reach lv 99 in everything and beat all the missions and quests? is that the end of the game and you just cancel your accout?

There really isn’t any way to "beat", FFXI, simply because it is a massively multiplayer online RPG. Square-Enix updates the game every so often so that the players never run out of things to do. If you ever finish all the quests and missions and such, and even reach level 99 (which is not possible right now since there is a level cap at lv75), you’ve plenty of other rewarding experiences to be had in FFXI, some challenging, others just plain fun.

Also, there is a possibility that in the distant future the level cap will be raised to 255. It’s unlikely to go so far, but possible. Characters will of course learn new spells and abilities along the way, no matter how high the level cap goes.

Once you reach the level cap you still have about a dozen other jobs to level, so if leveling is your thing it’ll take about 4 years to max all your levels.

PVP was recently implemented in the form of Ballista (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/conflict/main/).

It ish more like a mini game that leads to PVP, and it ish only played in certain areas, at certain times. Click the link above for more details.

If you manage to get everything to their level caps and max out your gil……. well, you should put the controller down and welcome to the year 2010.

What’s with that Chains of something-or-other expansion they’re about to come out with? Anyone have any details on that?

I have to admit, there is no way you can ever "beat" the game…

And if indeed you get all jobs to their level caps, man, get a life lol

thanks typo i mean its not what i was hoping for but ohh well

well since you guys were talkin about levels do you ever get a level were you can kill some of the monsters in one hit or are there special places were you can go were the monsters get harder and harder or does it just end were you can kill all the mosnters

Well, of course you can kill off enemies with one hit in the beginning… but once you hit the later stages, you won’t be seeing much of that, which is why you NEED to party up to move on down the line.

Besides the first few areas, you’ll always have a challenge killing stuff.

Yeah, I’m now a level 24 Warrior/12 Monk (nearing 25) and let me tell you, the easy preys you fought when you were level 10 were much easier than the easy preys now at level 24, and I can only guess it gets even harder. But I’m about to know, because I’m now heading for Kazham to reach level 30, and finally be eligible for the advanced jobs.

So, unless you’re, like, a Beastmaster/White Mage, you’d better get used to play in party, and fast (Actually, to even be a Beastmaster you’ll have to reach level 30, and that’s done more easily by partying.). And that is almost an art on its own. One dick-head in the party and it can totally be screwed.
