All time favourite Square Soft/Enix character

This post may have been done over and over again. But at the moment i am wondering what square soft/enix character is your all time favourite?

Mine would have to be Cloud Strife for final fantasy 7.

This is a tough one. I can’t decide between Sephiroth or Cloud because they are both two of the best FF characters I have ever seen. I suppose I will have to say Squall Leonhart from FFVIII because I identified with him more than any other FF character and his character had so much time put into it and he was very very deep.

1) Sephiroth always go for the evil characters and the Masamune is the best sword ever( how much does it weigh?)
2) Cloud always seemed depressed and his buster sword was cool
3) Kuja again evil

First, off this is not supposed to be in FF Gen
Second, you’re all idiots because there are a bunch of other good characters that aren’t one dimentsional in other SE games.
Third, Cloud sucks because he sucks tubes all day.

Isn’t funny how the title is Square/Enix characters but no one cares about Enix? Damn you all.

1: Ashton Anchors: A very skilled swordsman who is just having a crummy time in life and then to make things worse he gets stuck with two dragon who fuse into his body. Probably has the best combo in the game and generally the coolest because he knows when to shut up.

2: Lezard Valeth: A perverted necromancer who’s obsessed with capturing the valkyrie to make into his own lover, most likely a sex slave. Lezard is the best magic user and his voice acting is good but the japanese version is still better. His story wasn’t really told in VP as he was a bonus character but hopefully if Enix makes a VP2 he’ll be back.

3: My knight in FFT. She’s just awesome. 😀

Kairi from Kingdom Hearts. I find her cute. Sora, ermm… needs to be more man-ish.

The only thing I can remember from Enix was the Bust-A-Groove game. I found Heat very cool with his breakdancing.

Never played an Enix game.

For you guys who say that Cloud is such a bad ass, go play Chrono Trigger. The lead character, Crono, will easily chew Cloud into a mushy paste and then splinter him several times with his sword. He may never say a word during the game, but he becomes so exceedingly strong that it’s fun to watch.

In terms of favourite, I think I’d have to say Frog from Chrono Trigger. He had a noble purpose, fought for the love of his Queen, fought for an old mentor’s revenge but was wise enough to realise that some times you need to put hatred aside in order to succeed in saving the world.

Honourable mention goes to Auron, who ranks up there as one of the most interesting characters created. He was strong, distant, but at the same time a father figure to the party. He knew what was destined for them to encounter, and thus was able to change the direction when it mattered. He was one of the final three I relied on most during the game.

As for Enix characters… If Square-Enix would hurry up and translate some Dragon Quest games and release them here in the UK, then maybe I’ll be able to judge them. 🙂

Magus from Chrono Trigger.
His past is most interesting. He has some good and a few really evil sides, and plays a cool key role in the game. Great job…

I like the development of Yuna’s personality. We can all learn something from her…

Surlent from Rudra no Hihou/Treasure of the Rudras or whatever…
He’s so funny… I mean, what do you expect from a wizard with lots of knowledge, who dresses in dark colours and has cool green hair? Certainly not that he’s terribly naive and way too trustworthy. He does some really stupid things. And he really doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes. My little fun friend. 🙂

Kuja from FFIX
A very believable and thoroughly interesting villain. He had some serious character development going on, and I enjoyed him all the time… Great how the language he uses shows you what he’s thinking/feeling… 🙂

I cannot say much about anything related to Enix. All Enix games I’d ever played were Illusion of Time and a little bit of Terranigma… and none of the characters interested me.

Magus from Chrono Trigger and Callo from Vagrant Story.

The only Enix games that I ever played a lot were the Bust a Groove games. Shorty was my favorite, though.

On a sidenote, I think Auron is the ultimate FF badass.

If Enix wasn’t involved in this I would say Magus hands down… However, it is, so no Squaresoft for you.

The Hero in Dragon Warrior IV is like a combination of Auron and Magus on steroids. Equip him with the Zenithian he might as well be immortal.

I’m gonna say the Giant Bunny from Star Ocean 2, you have to give it up for a bunny that can easily transport 8 people at once. HEY BUNNY!!!

As far as FF goes I just can’t decide between Cyan and Locke, they’re both great characters. Just about the entier cast of 6 are great characters. But I do truly believe Cyan is more badass than Auron, and Shadow is even more badass than Cyan so ni!

Vivi from FFIX is my favorite character in all Squenixdom. The naive little construct really grows up and grows on you. And anyway, black mages just plain own.

He’s basically a wuss when you first start using him (like Janus was) but he gets exceedingly badass near the end. He doesn�t talk much, but when he does it is usually Magus style dialogue.

Look, idiot, two months doesn’t count as a ‘revival’. If it was two years, maybe, but this is still new enough to be on the front page of a forum with low turnover like RPGs.

Besides, the best Square-Enix character is Cloud – not just because he’s the S-E poster boy, but the reason he’s so popular is because of the depth Square Enix went to with his background. He’s the best developed character – but I find Tidus or Auron would come a close tied second.

Yes! I remember reading about him the manual and being like "OMG I have to get this guy!" and then when I got to the second world I was like "OH SHIT I missed him ; ;"
So yeah, I made a new file just to get him.

My favorite was Locke Cole. I like how he was struggling with his past but ended accepting it. Plus his capture skill totally owned in FFVI.

Fei/Id is one of my all-time favorites. The whole split personality thing is pure genius.

Also elly is well developed and interesting.

citan Uzuki or Hyuga is cool as well, as is pretty much everybody else in Xenogears.

That’s SquareEnix. Squaresoft and Enix used to be two separate companies. FFX-2 is a SquareEnix game, not an Enix game, meaning the characters in it are not Enix characters.

i agree with LandLord on Squall Leonheart, i definately identified with him. but my favorite character would be a toss up between Reno from FFVII or Crono from Chrono Trigger, because we share similar traits. (Red Spikey Hair). although I picked these two, I love almost every square character that has been put out.

Grahf from Xenogears. He developed well and he was just formiddable. The Alpha Weltall was my favorite Gear and he was a generally admirable villain.

I liked the hero of Dragon Quest V, he reminded me of Gohan(DBZ) alot(hmm… wonder why?)

Hey Mogknight this is a finalfantasy site and cloud is cool although sqaull was a good character i could relate with. Who else sees the simularity between ff and chrono cross my favorite game?

id have to say cloud or sephiroth, because they were both really strong and they got that badass personality about them. also they both seem to be immortal (although cloud possibly kills sephiroth in ff7, there still both awsome… and in kingdom heart games cloud is tight because he can fly but i dont like the string around his sword……..

Magus was an enigma, he really didnt care what happened to anyone. Robo was an intresting character, towards the beginning when you first get him he is just like any other robot but he begins to develop a personality and emotions throughout the game. Kefka was the biggest badass in Final Fantasy history, he was psychotic, he wanted all power. He didnt care who or what got in his way, he would achieve complete control, and he did for awhile. That laugh got annoying as well… Vincent was another enigma. He was mysterious in his ways and had a shady past. Vivi was a strong mage. Also clown pants…need i say more? Glennn was a very loyal character and a good stong character as well. He would have been better if Chrono Cross had more room for character development. Starky was a cool, strong character. He was like the Vivi of Chrono Cross
