in fact, gamespy recently named it the best real-time-strategy-game ever (http://www.gamespy.com/top10/february04/rts/index11.shtml).
there’s quite a bit of information there, there’s even more on the web if you want to search for it. it’s a war game, but on a massive scale- players having up to 500 units isn’t at all uncommon, and sending gigantic waves of attacks will happen virtually every game.
a long, long time ago, I was listening to a conversation about Total Annihilation and Starcraft, and I think it was put best there: Starcraft is a skirmish game, Total Annihilation is a war game.
the game’s actually seven years old now, but it’s still insanely fun. myself, mogknight, acpo and a few others have started playing it online- and we need more people. >:O
you can probably pick it up on ebay (http://www.ebay.com) with the expansion quite cheap. or if you’re on broadband and actually plan on playing it with us, I could probably arrange, uh, other means of getting you the game, if you stop by the chat.
