Ninja Scroll.

I usually like my Animes. I watch them any chance I get. Which isn’t as often as I’d like. But then i watched Ninja Scroll. And I mean EURGH !! I don’t usually turn off a film half-way through, but Christ ! I don’t know if it’s any better in japanese, but it was so contrived and badly spun out. It was a small mini-series, cheesed up to the max and squashed and cut into a mere 90 minutes. A perfect example of a good idea but badly executed. Yuck, what a bad film.

i quite liked it….it was better than tekken..then again…what wasnt?:eye:

Ninja Scroll is a great Manga, not only is the animation quality good, it has some wicked scenes and a brilliant story.

Although, it doesnt beat Akira… Nothing Does

Ninja Scroll is awesome. I personally like it better than Akira, but it certainly isn’t crap. I mean come on, a guy gets his arms ripped out. Lots of cool stuff happens in it. The series is out now too, it’s awesome too.

Ninja scroll is the best manga movie, its an absolute classic.

I always thought Ninja Scroll was a completely overrated gore/smut fest.

Well, overrated perhaps because of it’s popularity. Like Neon Genesis Evangelion.

It’s definitely a gore/bloodfest though.

I did like it, however. But it’s not my favorite anime movie ever. I prefer Princess Mononoke, for example.

It’s a rather crap anime movie. 🙁 Just sex and violence and lameness.

I’m gald I finally found people who agree with me. The animation is top notch, but otherwise there’s nothing good about it.

O_o i think you got your wires crossed. the movie came out first. and THEN a series was made out of it. i havne’t seen it but i think the series is gonna be crap. i saw some screenshots, the animation pretty much sucks compared to the movie. and i don’t even know if Jubei is gonna be in them. :p

So I very much doubt they compacted anything into a movie. you probably watched it with some bias or something. it happens sometimes. your like "ok, wtf is this" and then you watch it and start nit picking on everything and compare it to your most fav anime like "omg inu yasha could have killed him so easy" pfft. lol

unless your talking about jubei’s revenge. i haven’t seen that either but i didnd’t hear too much good out of it.

i mean think about it, ninja scroll came out, like, in 1996. how can you compact a new series that’s like..when did that shit come out? 2k3? and make a movie out of a series that came out later. time travel? sure.

Ninja Scroll is good. But there are good anmie/manga and bad ones. That easy.

I didn’t know there was a series. I mean that that was what it feeled like. Everything was so rushed. The fights lasted less than 2 minutes each. No proper story development, everything is explained right out.

oh i see what you mean. that’s pretty intresting. you must have seen a lot of other movies before you ever saw ninja scroll and obtained your own general definition of a good "anime" movie. for most of us, ninja scroll was like the first or second movie we ever saw and we didn’t know what to expect so we were all just blown away by pretty much everything and which is why a lot of poeple like it. :p (i speak for me and anyone who can relate)

i respect your opinion on it though. i mean, it seems like its something that can’t really be helped. if you thought it was rushed i can’t really say anything to help it except try and see it all through so that you can figure out why and such. (the main storie seems to unfold near the end) but i don’t think i should work too much just to defend it. i mean to each his own so it ain’t bugging me. :p unless i felt really strong about it like with robotech to which i’d say "YOU FOOL! YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING! YOU BETTER WATCH IT AND LIKE IT OR DIE BECUZ ROBOTECH OWNZ JOO!!!" lol ;p

and yah theres this new series they are making on ninja scroll and it looks really shitty but who knows. i only saw like 2 screenshots rofl.

it’s an action film so of course there’s gonna be violence and there was only 1 brief sex scene (and 1 or 2 other scenes of nudity)

All i have to say about Ninja Scroll is that it has everything you can ask for in one package, violence, sex, and more violence AND THA BLOOD AND GORE SOOOOOOO COOL VIOLENCE is cool

Actually, there are lots of things I can ask for which are not in Ninja Scroll, such as a good story, interesting characters, humor, dialogue that isn’t completely boring, some sort of purpose beyond random death and sex, etc.
