Mine for playing hours was Star Wars – Knights of the old Republic at around 40 hours.
In general time it would have to be Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat. That game took me a year to complete. Obviously not constant playing but on and off. Was possibly the hardest game I beat. It’s sequal Warhammer: Dark Omen was toned down a bit. Took a month.
Game took me forever to beat. I don’t remember how long, but it was around 160 hours of gameplay.
In terms of time from first turning the game on until the time the ending credits had finished rolling… It took me a year or so to complete Legaia 2 (due to lack of interest), but the prize goes to Final Fantasy V, which I bought back in the spring of 2002 and which still sits unfinished 2 years later due to my general hatred of the game itself.
FFX took me over a year to beat simply because I didn’t like the game very much but every few months I’d think "I’m halfway through it, might as well beat it, it could get better" sadly it never did.
In terms of hours… eh, I don’t know. Most RPGs take me around 40+ hours. I like to get extras and crap…. So none really sticks out as having taken forever to beat. :/
FFX around 50, but that’s logical since I spend a lot of time leveling up and such 😮 Even so o_o I now got 100 hours which I never reached with any other FF game.
it took me about 4-5 months to beat tomb raider: the last revelation. i kept getting stuck and i refused to use cheats or look at a strategy guide. i also make it hard on myself cuz i dont use medpacks or ammo in tr games, so i reload my game a lot.
But longest game for me was probably ffx-2 took me just under a year.
For me, Xenogears. The game took me over 80 hours and I didn’t do the extreme leveling up I do in some RPGs.
I really wish games were longer…I wish RPGs had a minimum playing time of 100 hours to be honest, and other games like adventure games 50.
I heard Legay of Kain: Soul Reaver takes a while to beat as well. Anyways…
And then there’s the fact that it’s easy to get lost in some areas because it’s easy to forget to use first person view to look around and get your bearings from time to time.
But other than that, it’s awesome. Best in-game graphics on the PSX.
Star Ocean 2 took the longest, mainly because of all the time spent levelling up early on.
Now, the first Blood Omen took nearly forever to get through because of how hard it was to navigate through the map and to fight. But it’s worth playing through just for the back-story for all the other games. That, and the fact that the fledgling vampire Kain has some funny remarks about various of the Guardians of Nosgoth when he comments on the Relics he gains from the ones he kills (Nupraptor’s Head – "Alas, poor Nupraptor, I knew him well… Well, not really… *evil laughter*).
Um… Oh, yeah.
Getting 100% completion on Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec took a hell of a long time. 🙂
