Who Else Hates This?

Man…I really loved the FFX system. The sphere gris was awesome and the turn based battle system rocked. This is just confusing weird and crappy. I’m still gonna beat it cause the end animation has gotta be awesome but…I REALLY HATE THIS GAME!

This is a far run away from Final Fantasy X… and Final Fantasy X had a broken system of sorts, the game was so easy. Final Fantasy X-2 requires you to not let the game idle out for so long, making you actually do something other taking your sweet time.

I consider the battle system in this game something that you have to get used to. But once you work with it some, it can be likeable.

well x was nice cool good and everything~ <–since its the 1st ff game on ps2 with pretty graphics~ yup i like that one but x2 is just… man

Am I the only one that likes this game? I mean come on, sure it’s different. VERY different. But, I thought the game was good. The story was pretty good, it’s a little bad at first but once you get farther into the game it starts picking up. I liked the good ending. I’ll have the perfect ending as soon as I beat it my second time through. But, I guess it’s just me. I’m very open-minded, I’m not gonna say oh.. What is all this charlies angels sailor moon crap. It’s obviously a joke. So, what if you play as all girls, so what if they changed the system (I like the new battle system, but the dress sphere and garment grid thing is too limiting). The mission thing, it’s a little weird not typical and I don’t really like it much.. But, it is an interesting concept because you actually CHOOSE what you want to do. Unlike in a traditional RPG game, you choose where you want to go and if you want to do it. Pretty much you can get a completely different game with all the choices, and this gave the game replay value. I didn’t like doing everything over again to get 100% but I don’t care. I felt this game gave FFX a definitive ending. FFX was great, but I haven’t heard of a sequel ever making up to it’s predessor.

I like it. I think most that have actually done the things to get Episode Completes and see the better endings like it. I don’t understand the complaints that the storyline doesn’t make any sense – if you didn’t bother completing the missions necessary to explain the plot, then of course it’s not going to make sense.

I’ll just say this: I’ve yet to see these types of complaints from anyone that actually did get the Episode Completes and the better endings and stuff.

yup x2 got pretty CGs and new stuffs in it~ but i think it’s no longer FINAL FANTASY games~~ offed too much…
the ending is nice but if they leave it as the ending in x and let the player to imagine would be nicer isn’t it?
we all know tidus was alive in x’s ending and that should count as a happy ending~ =] at least i can imagine they geting together again….
so yeah~ x2 has new stuffs in it and it sure is a good try but i believe it would be better if they dont make x2 at the 1st place and my point is making x2 is not necessary~ leave the story as it is in x~ its good enough ^^bbb….
i was looking forward before x2 came out but then i know i was wrong~ it destroyed the feelings i had in x…. well again~ personal opinions~ people think differently anyway~ =]

Oh, and one other thing. I wasn’t going to say anything, but reading a post like that really hurts the eyes. Couldn’t you capitalize the first letters of the sentences and put periods (or whatever punctuation is appropriate) at the end?

Personally, the whole "This is Final Fantasy" and "This isn’t Final Fantasy" is getting pretty damn…. old.

Ever since FF2 came out with it’s weird level up system, it wasn’t Final Fantasy. I remember the original Final Fantasy game having absolutely NOTHING on the characters, storywise that is.

When FF3 came out, it wasn’t Final Fantasy because you can change everyone’s job at any time and everyone talked liked in Final Fantasy 2.

When FF4 came out, there were 5 CHARACTERS. You can have 5 characters in your group. Thats SO not Final Fantasy. In fact, everyone had special abilities that exclusive for them and ONLY them. The main character also ended up being COMPLETELY different from when he started. It was SO not Final Fantasy. Oh and it used an ATB system…. AND an Auto Target. So not Final Fantasy.

When FF5 came out….. GOD, SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH THAT… I mean GOD…. IT HAD A JOB SYSTEM JUST LIKE FINAL FANTASY 5! I mean, why didn’t anyone just stick with ONE job and thats it? Crap man… FF5 sucks because of that! *gets beat up by Misao* Oh and you could RUN! What kind of crap is that?

FF6…. oh god…. so horrible… there was NO SINGLE MAIN CHARACTER. You had to press BUTTONS… REAL BUTTON COMMANDS… just to do special skills? What kind of CRAP is that? That is SO NOT FINAL FANTASY! In fact, you could run in this too!

FF7…. what the hell kind of Final Fantasy is this? It’s in 3D! You can only have 3 people in your party AND…. Guess what? A PARTY MEMBER DIES! Oh and FF5 had someone die… FF6 had someone die… I’m not sure about 4…. but yeah….

I don’t even need to go on from this. EVERYTHING AFTER FINAL FANTASY 1 WAS SO NOT FINAL FANTASY. 🙁

Umm…… FFX2 is totally different don’t you think so? 🙁 There ain’t any FF styles left in that game. But since it’s new and people might like it. But would you like every single FF game trun into that style in the future? I personally don’t think so.
FF series must have FF traditional metirials in it, like summon, chocobo and magic. I believe you don’t want a game like The Spirits Within.:eye:
But there are still positive things in FFX2! The CGs are so DAMN GOOD! Hehe! And the whole new system thingy is nice too! I wish they keep those in the new games! YAY! ^________^

Final Fantasy X-2 isn’t "TOTALLY" different. It has FF5 Job System, ATB battles. Chocobos and Magics are there… Summons are just… eh I won’t spoil it.

The only real thing that makes it far apart of any other Final Fantasy game (and it’s really just one element I believe) is the fact that it’s Non-Linear. Thats about it… it’s all pretty much the same if you look hard into it.

If I pay yoyu money, will you stop saying "THis is so not Final Fantasy!" in the future?

It makes my stomach contort and my eyes burn, it makes my mouth dry and my heart beating faster. I feel anger well up sinide me, slowly taking over…

I know I’m only repeating myself again and again when I say that I hate this type of FF fan that thinks that he, and ONLY he, has the absolute right idea of what Final Fantasy is. He also believes that Square Enix has absolutely no idea of what Final Fantasy means.

They complain about the main character’s hair colour, they complain when there is a male main character because that is just repetitive, they complain when there’s a female main character because that’s justa Lara Croft clone, they complain about everything, about every detail. When the graphics are good they complain that the game is "all graphics with a bad story", when the graphics are not good or there aren’t lots of cutscenes they complain about the game having bad grphics… I am so sick and tired of this.

Like mentioned above, dammit, of course this has nothing to do with FINAL FANTASY.
And thank goodness! Because in Final Fantasy four nameless personality-less sprites walked a boring world full of no-personality-NPCs and saved it god-knows-why, just because they were the heroes, and do not ask my why they were the heroes. Hadn’t Final Fantasy always been based on changes – getting rid of stuff like the crystals, adding new things like moogles… well, it’d suck really bad.
Accept it.

And besides, FFX-2 is grand. Grand, not great, GRAND. Maybe you don’t want to find all these things in that game, but I cannot help but realize that FFX-2, together with its sequel, creates such interesting, realistic characters, demonstrates what happens to a world…. wait, didn’t I say the same thing in some other thread already?

See? It’s always the came complaints, and I will always give the same answer- Play the game. If you’re too blind to find the meaning it’s really not the game’s fault. Go play your dear holy FFVII or whatever you consider to be "more Final Fantasy than FFX-2".

Talking about FFVII… what does this game have to do with Final Fantasy?? Where are the crystals? Why Science Fiction???

Not to mention that you can only use 3 characters!

Well didn’t I say that was just my PERSONAL OPINION? Since this is just a forum and we are writing what we feel here so why arguring about it?
I didn’t say FFX2 was totally bad, but there is negative side in there isn’t it? What I was trying to tell is I THINK making FFX2 is unnecessary and I PERSONALY like the ending in FFX.

I mentioned it in the beginning that I don’t like the story not this game. And I think leaving the ending in FFX is good enough.

I am sorry if I offended you, sounded aggressive or anything. It’s just that I am sick and tired of this general ‘complaining about FFX-2’ going on. You must agree that threads like this one get posted a lot about FFX-2… more often than about older FF parts… After a while I can’t help but feel annoyed.

Besides, you may be right and FFX didn’t need the sequel, but that doesn’t mean that a sequel wasn’t a good idea. It was fun – at least for me – to see Spira again and watch what becomes of it. It was very interesting to see how people in the game rearranged their lives and reacted to everything. All this was well done, in a way that gave you the feeling that YOU were playing the game, making decisions and following your own wishes. instead of following an old path… Well, that’s beside the point.
I guess FFX was even better qualified for getting a sequel than say, FFVIII or FFIX.

… then you shouldn’t have got the good ending but stopped after getting the sad one. I got it and must say… it leaves me with the same emotions FFX left me with, maybe even stronger. Maybe because Yuna and I spent time remembering, striving, longing and dreaming…… Am I making sense?
Well, make yourself the game you like. If you didn’t like the one ending, get the other. 😉

I LOVED ffx. I hated the fact the ending was so ambiguous. I’m glad they made a sequel. But..man if you are gonna make a SEQUEL to a game use the same damn system. I would be fine with a new system if it was ff12 or 13 or something…but not for a SEQUEL. Man…I loved the sphere grid beyond even the draw system and the materia system. But i like the cgs in ffx2…but i still like the end sequence of ffx more. I’m glad I taped it. mwahaha.

There were only three playable characters. In FFX you could switch characters during battle, in FFX-2 you could switch jobs. The result was the same: "Uh oh, I need some healing. Rikku, you be my White Mage now!"
It’s quite nice.

Shinra: (something pretty close to that) "That can happen when you use the Garment Grid. The emotions of the previous owner are passed down to the wearer."
Rikku: "Isn’t that dangerous?"
Shinra: "I can’t say. I’m just a kid."

Glad it helped. To further clarify, Shuyin thinks that Yuna is Lenne because of the Songstress dressphere. At the end of the game, he thought Yuna was Lenne and he was ready to "fade together" with her, but then something clicked and he’s like "No… You are not Lenne!" And then, also, during the "1000 Words" song, there was a reaction between the dressphere and Shinra’s sphere screen and it caused everyone to see the events that happened between Lenne and Shuyin.

Another one that factors into the story a bit is the Mascot dressphere, but there’s a couple of specific story events that you have to complete in order to find out about that one.

A bad game? Maybe…

There is something about this game. Bad? Possibly. In my opinion, the main difference in this Final Fantasy game is that it didn’t make me want to play the game. Most other Final Fantasy games made me wanting more. It will probably be the same with XII because all the Final Fantasy games are the same in the sense that something’s always different in each game.

I don’t know, the only RPG I play is Final Fantasy…or maybe I don’t play RPGs anymore.

Sports games and Halo are fun games because you can trash talk with people! :lol

alright…fine. After taking a bit to get used to it the system isn’t that horrible. I think i may have just been in shcok since I didn’t even turn my ps2 off between beating ffx and starting ffx2. The strategy guide helps. I wanna beat this fast.

Hey i have the strategy guide…that makes it easy. No point in trying to get it myself. i don’t want to screw it up the first time. I want this over with and i want to know ALL of the story.

I thought ffx-2 was fun. Not everything can always stay the same for a series and Im’ always up for a new change every once in awhile. I didn’t realyl care for the ffx-2 story line but the game play was grand. I liked all the side quests and the fighting systems .. I got used to it. I was always looking forward to seeing what ecah character looked like in the new dress sphere. The game could’ve done without that whole Charlie’s Angels thing going on tho. *rolls eyes*

when i first heard about ffx-2 and saw the pictures of my favorite heroine in slutty outfits, i was mad. i thought i would hate the game. but, you know what? i love it. it’s different, but why not? a direct sequel to an ff game has never been done before.

from my viewpoint, it had to be different. square was using the same world, some of the same characters…they had to change some stuff. so they had a different battle system, a different way to level up (dress spheres). it was innovative at the same time it was drawing from past games (the job system).

ffx is probably my favorite game. in fact, i think it’s one of the greatest games out there–i loved the story, the characters, the graphics, the sphere grid–i loved it all. but it was such a depressing game! i cry every time i see the ending. ffx-2 was bringing ffx fans away from that sadness. now, we were seeing yuna grow, we were seeing the changes that overtook spira. for the most part, the game was fun and happy–we got our fair share of angst with the shuyin/lenne storyline–but we got plenty of silliness, too. i was so happy upon watching the ending of ffx-2. i really felt good.

ffx-2 had to be different, but, for me, it was different in a very good way, and it was enough the same to be fulfilling to me as a diehard ffx fan.

and, you know, if you really hate the game, you could always not play it. >_<

a sequel is usually better or worse than the original. but ffx2, i say is both an equal to all ff including its prequel, or even better.

iv never played ffix, ffx, or ffx-2, but Rikku is HoT… i cant stress that enough…;)

Because Square sucks that way, that they stopped making FF games for PC after VIII. Actually, I guess it wasn’t marketable enough. 🙁

People get 100% in FFX-2 one time and tell me its a bad game. Sure its different but you veterans remember you never got any different characters before FFIV. The battle system is also by far one of the greatest, you can intercept attacks and save your fellow gullwing from damage. Also the story to its fullest is one the perfectly sequels FFX. Sure some of the themes are goofy and funny, haha also poppy, but its the damn Eternal Calm, don’t you think everyone is in a good party mood. Besides its a sequel to games that never had sequels, Square had fun with it’s unconventional game. It may never happen again which will shut up some of you ingorant dorks who never get any.(I bet not a single one of them beat Trema) Well i said what i needed to.

Though Square doesn’t suck, I just don’t LOVE *EVERYTHING* that they do.

Nor do I. But I happen to like certain aspects of FFX-2. And those aspects I think deserve notice, like the first real attempt at non-linearity in a Final Fantasy game, the fun battle system and the interesting themes you can find in the game, if you look for them, like "reorganizing a world", "overcoming the past" and "dealing with losses"…

imgaykthx – just wondering – what’s your big hate against Playstation 2? I’ll admit that I myself didn’t like not being able to play the later games on PC, but I dealt with it.

Personaly I didn’t like FFX2 that much but I thought the other games were cool?
