What’s up with all this blonde shit?

I’m tired of the main character having blonde hair all the time. Can’t Squaresoft at LEAST give the main character an un-natural hair color for once? like… LIME colored or BLUE… It’s always either blonde or brown… (I’m sure there’s been main characters in the past with different colors but I’m talking about what they’ve been creating recently.)

erm… Wow… Personally, I don’t really think about hair color when it comes to a game, but I enjoy natural hair color… Blue and lime don’t sound so appealing, and I think they should remain in Anime, and leave the gaming world alone ^_^

I’m quite content with Square Enix’s decisions thus far to keep natural colors in characters hair…

I think the whole blonde thing is meant to represent purity, you know all that holiness stuff. But I guess they change hair colour occasionally to fit with the characters personality or just to have a change once in a while.

I for one am glad they haven’t decided to make a character with blue or lime colored hair. I already think the games should be made more realistically and less anime-ish… the blue and green hair would just be counter productive

I definitely wouldn’t go for a wild hair-color either. That would just be annoying to look at to me.

the funny hair color would only work if it fit in the world of the story. like in 9 when eiko had a purple bob. SPOILER because she was a magic thing. END SPOILER. i guess she wouldnt count as a main one, eh?

o…well. i guess other characters do have funny haircolors dont they. even enemies, like seymour in x.

maybe they stick to natural haircolors (mostly blonde, since how squall is not a flaxen haired dude.) because they r more appealing to the eyes. it seems that the majority duznt like the idea of funny haircolors.

i was upset that rikku didnt have some rainbow highlights or somehthing. seemed to fit her personality.

Okay, you’re right, same here. I don’t think I will be able to enjoy FFXII because Vaan has blonde? white? hair… I mean, it changes everything!! Gah! The whole story sucks when the main character has blonde hair, when will they learn that?? That’s such a pain in the ass… I mean, blonde? Impossible!! *stomps off melodramatically*

Frankly, I couldn’t care less. As long as the hair colour fits with the character. I cannot imagine dark haired Tidus, his blonde hair fits him lots better. I cannot imagine Zidane with something besides his cuddly golden hair… And Cloud? It never bothered me.

Come on, please! Isn’t brown the usual hero’s hair colour? Didn’t everyone complain about that? About Butz, and Squall, and Crono, and everyone having the same hair colour? Now it’s just another colour, and one day everyone’ll be whining about red hair, or green hair, or whatever… It’s just hair, people.

I reckon the character in FF13 should have rainbow coloured hair. And each stripe of the rainbow should give him / her some sorta power. Y’know, red for summon, yellow for command, green for magic, blue for blue magic, orange for fighting, etc, etc, etc. And you can customise the hair for ability – more orange equals a stronger warrior and more red equals a better ability to summon things…

Yeah, I always thought Terra’s hair was green. But the PSX FMV proved me wrong. And the hair colour doesn’t bother me too much either. In fact, so far for the characters produced, the colour of the hair suited ’em.

Terra’s hair is Light Green…Butz’s is white (yeah, doesn’t look like it in the game but look at the artwork and FMVs)…

The point ?

Why do you really care ? It’s the personnality and playability (read: how well he/she mops the battelfield) of the hero that matters. Looks are secondary.

Squall’S hair is very obviously brown. Black? I dunno. It’d certainly be cool. For a main character, I mean. Other male characters with black hair are Vincent, Barret, Laguna, Kiros, Auron…

Besides, Tidus’ blonde hair just firs him better, doesn’t it? Sunnyboy!!

As far as I know the FMVs for FF5 and FF6 were based on the Amano artworks rather than of the game… thus the different hair colours. o-o Amano also drew Garnet with blonde hair once, and Eiko with green hair… well. We stil agree that these are not the real hair colours?

let’s say blonde is just the mark of ff series…(recently) im fine with it~ =] well personaly i like brown better –>squall<–

It’s something that hasn’t been ranted about tho, now, is it? And there’s been much more stupid things people have ranted about. I’m not ranting, I’m just trying to start a new subject to talk about. The post that I posted is ranting, but I myself am not.

No, this is not the first time someone does a rant about hair colours in Final Fantasy, or videogames, or anime/manga. 🙂

A totally new rant would be to complain about…

Actually, a song sung by a male singer with a good voice would be nice. Tidus with blue hair…o_o;(sorry, I was wodnering what it would be like if Tidus and Seymour swapped hair-colors. lol.)

I must of missed the whole blonde thing?

FF7: Aeris sort of a mousy brown and Tifa with black hair. Cloud blonde, Barret black, Vincent black

FF8: Quistis with mousy brown and Rinoa with black. Squall? Black

FF9: Garnet? Black Steiner? Metalish. Vivi? hair? o_O Freya? White Zidane, dark blonde. (two so far)

FFX: Yuna? Brown. Auron black/grey, wakka red, Tidus blonde.

Considering realistically they’re only going to pick out of black, brown, blonde and red, 4 out of 17 main characters its hardly "all that blonde shit" dont you think???

i think they had a reson for keeping natural clours we all remeber terra from ff6&3 and well we can all see what she turned out like:eye:

this is kinda off the subject but still on, if that makes sense, but doesn’t Kaze (FF:U) have black hair? i know unlimited isn’t a game but i thought i’d make that point.

and also the fighter in 1 had red hair and the theif had blue.

and when terra is in her esper form she has pink hair.

oh and just one more, yuna also has a braid of blue hair.
