Simple question. I’m on a bit of a spending spree at the moment (which is silly, seeing as it’s the government’s money, not mine.) After spending 865 on a laptop and goodies for the laptop, I feel the need to buy something else major.

This is my choice. I’m not playing games as much as I used to (21 years old and I’m beginning to grow out of them, I guess…) Anyways, I want to give Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Golden Sun and Zelda a go, but I’m wondering if it’s worth me shelling out close to 100 for the console and one game. Not to mention more money to buy the others.

Opinions? The cash is there, but it could be used for something else beneficial. Like driving lessons. Or christmas presents. Or something.

Eh, you’ll learn how to drive some other way. :O

Get the SP 😀

The SP is great… you should get it… Golden Sun, Breath of Fire, FFTA, lots of good RPG’s on that little console

J/k …unless you want to. :erm:

Sure, its better then to squint under a light bulb.

You said it could be used for something else more beneficial ? Then why are you asking ? Driving is far more useful, really. And that’s coming from a guy who really doesn’t like cars. I’d rather buy Christmas presents too. IF, after that, you have enough money, then go for it.

I actually bought a GBA yesterday – not a SP, just the old fashioned big one. They’re on sale for AU$99 – probably about 35 pound, and since I’ll only be using it on the train in the bright sunlight, I didn’t need the nifty backlight.

All up, the GBA and FFTA cost me AU$150 – only $40 more than I pay for any new-release PS2 game. Not a bad investment, considering that I can pick up a whole heap of cool games (Mario! Sonic! CRASH!) for 50 bucks a piece.

If you’ve got the money, i’d spend it.

Definitely get it. Not only is it the best console around at the moment, it’s also SEXY AS HELL.

Yesyesyes!

I have a Platinum GBA:SP and I swear if I wasn’t busy playing FFTA on it I’d be trying to marry it.

They’re sexy, have great games available for them and they’re classic Nintendo goodness.

It’s an SP, not your high school sweet heart.

And anyways. The SP has it’s ups and downs.

+: It is pocket sized
– : It’s too crampy (for those of us with big hands)
+: It has a light
– : It has integrateded batteries (if it dies when you don’t have an outlet…then that’s it)

That last one is what that is keeping me from upgrading.
But I guess it’s all in how you look at it.

I will stay with mine because I have rechargable batteries and I found a site that sells a light for the old GBA.

Console Source (http://www.consolesource.com)

You have to install it yourself but if your skilled enough then I recommend doing that instead. (It’s like installing a mod chip)

Well while the SP’s light and re-chargable features are good, if you dont want to spend too much I say go for the ‘normal’ GBA. I’ve got one and have still not been tempted to buy an SP, quite simply because its the same price as a GC:( . I still think the original GBA is great, and looks just fine. Alos for buying FF:TA i’ve got that too, defo buy it, I would recommend www.play.com, its about 26.99 with free postage.

The sp is so so so much better than the regular. the backlight makes all the difference. oh man. It lights up the graphics and makes the whole game look so much better. the little clip on lights are no replacment. the sp glows like a computer screen and it really really does improve the general quality of the graphics. Yeah it does have an integrated abttery but the battery lasts for 8 hours with the light on and 12 with the light off. come on. just pull it out of your pocket before you go to sleep and plug it in.

Just remembered another reason to get this, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo. One of the best conversions ive ever seen. PS1 to gba! Its great.

Come now, if you don’t have a Gameboy SP, how are you going to play River City Ransom?

Besides playing it old-school style, but that’s beside the point.

One of my favorite things about the Sp is thast it’s a universal system, so you can import all sorts of great games from Japan (like Bubble-Bobble) and play them on your sp.
