This probably belongs somewhere else…

I don’t know about you, but I just feel like not playing Final Fantasy games anymore. I don’t know exactly why, but, to me, the games just get repetitive. Like, I have barely a desire to get FFX-2 or FFXI. I don’t know why, but the games sort of just never change.

You do the same in every game: save the world from evil. Sure, music, battle systems, lands, etc, seem to be always different. And because of that, nothing ever gets old. But to me, it gets old because they always change everything. And the ultimate goal is always the same. So, the only reason why I would go get a new FF is for the storyline.

I don’t know; perhaps, I’m just growing out of Final Fantasy games, or video games in general. 🙁

Maybe I need help…

Well thats kinda what most video games are about… save the world from some sort of evil. If you’re playing just for story, then you probably are playing for the wrong reason, as you could read a book and get a better story than most video games. I play the games because they are fun. Video games are a type of medium unlike any other. A video game is part movie, part book, and interactive. There’s really nothing like it. If you are not having fun playing any more, then you probably are just either playing the wrong type of games, or just as you said growing out of them. I kinda have phases like that, where I just don’t feel like playing games any more for no particular reason, but eventually I slap myself in the face, figure out that I LOVE VIDEO GAMES, and start playing some more.

Sounds like a hint of depression honestly.

Getting a loss of interest like that for a game you known to grow and love scares me…Could that happen to me possibly?

I lost interest in games over the summer…it somehow returned though. I think you should honestly give FFX-2 and FFXI a go…They will bring a smile back to your face for sure.

Wow, Loki took the words out of my mouth. Sort of. I go through the same kind of phases in entertainment. I’ll spend hours and hours playing a game day after day. Then one day I set the game down for a while. The next day I don’t play either and instead pick up a book. I’ll read the book about halfway or more through over a few days, then I give up on that. Watching Tv might follow that, then the Internet, then D&D. Finally though I get back to the realization that I love videogames and go out and spend my money on the next new game and the cycle begins again. Every now and then I’ll get slightly engrossed in one of those old games but it never has that same effect as when yu’ve just bought it.

FFX-2 isn’t about saving the world from evil.. at least it is NOT that serious about it.

You’ll have to play it to see, but FFX-2 is like a breath of fresh air into the series
