The hero is face to face with his worst nightmare, risking his life in the most terrible battle he has ever experienced…
Suddenly his opponent launches his final super-powerful special technique, probably powerful enough to wipe out a dozen of endangered species at once, the hero – unprepared!! – sees the deadly sword come closer, closer…. C L O S E R —
And then the magic three words appear at the end of the page or across the darkening TV screen:
To be continued!
And this means waiting for a week… or a month… or two months… or three months, or in the case of a few manga artists that draw more slowly than any slug ever could, a year.
What is the worst cliffhanger YOU ever encountered? What was the moment when the waiting time between two episodes or books was simply unbearable?
Or does this all simply not effect you?
Hahaha, call me lazy, call me what you will.
But the cliffhangers on these new episodes of YYH are absolutely killing me! Each day, I watch and see the preview of the next episode, drooling, eyes glued to the TV in suspense…
It’s murder on poor little Enma, I’ll tell you that. 🙁
Oh, uhm, yes, that…
Id probably have gon crazy if I had not had an original manga book and could read everything in a row, without any bad evil pauses… o_o *pat pat* I feel with you, my friend.
Talking about the Kenshin manga:
Volume 16 has the worst cliffhanger ever.
And after volume 10, when Kaoru is standing before Kenshin and… I had to wait half a year all in all to get to know what happens next…
I am sorry I cannot give you any pictures, but right now my sister is suffering from the cliffhanger at the end of the second volume of Legend of Mana.
I am dying to get Angel Sanctuary 14 into my fingers, Naruto 6 ended way too soon, too, and yes, Kenshin 27 has an okay cliffhanger. The last one in the series. I am impatient. ;_;
The Legend of Mana manga is mainly funny, and has a lot of insider gags only those who played the game can understand. It was drawn by someone named Shiro Amano, his art is nice, but most of the manga is super-deformed and stuff… complete with five volumes. It is nearly impossible to find information on it online. I recall there was only one page with two badly scanned pictures…
