WarCraft 3, gaining levels on your record

I’m sure some have heard me rant and ramble about WarCraft 3’s experience/record system before, but why not share the fun some more?

Hello, I’m a semi-regular level 9 fighting machine on battle.net. I used to be level 10. Heck, I was almost level 11… until newbies and Blizzard dealt me a fatal bloowwww~ WC3 gives you experience points when you and/or your team wins a game/battle, and with experience points you gain levels. Levels are important because they actually play a small part in how RT games are set up… and they’re also meant to publically reflect your skill.

RT, or "Random Team" battle is the proposed best way to play WC3 on battle.net, but decent (not expert) players seem to be penalized all too often. When you enter an RT game, your team is just what you’d expect… pretty darn random. When you’re caught with more n00b allies than you can handle (see n00b ally definition later), you almost always lose the game. When you lose the game, your experience points DECLINE! DECLINE!!! Why?? As a decent player, I’ve worked lots to get up to level 10… and then my win/lose ratio takes a sharp turn as I play RT games with crap allies. I end up losing so much that I now play as level 9. I’m not sure *exactly* how the farking system works, or if it works at all if you’re only say level 1-8, or even if it has existed since WC3 came to battle.net.

The best way to play, and innocent, decently skilled players are put to shame. x___x I think when you have a loss, your experience should gain nothing, not gain negative points. The *only* time your experience should begin to go down is when you have idled from battle.net for a while (and even then, it shouldn’t decrease that much).

Oh, and as promised… the definition of a n00b ally!

Anyhow, there’s always AT or "Arranged Team" battles, but this can turn into zero fun quickly as the competition is fierce, and ‘smurf’ accounts are constantly in use (smurf accounts are names created just to try new strategies, and their level does not reflect their skill at all)… so you get lots of miss-matches.

There’s FFA games, but I’ve never been a FFA fan in any kind of game. Finally, there’s 1v1, but it runs into some of the same problems as AT games. There’s my two cents!

Personally, I’ve given up on bnet games until Frozen Throne comes out in June, except for hero battle arenas. Nucleus, GOD, and Glad arenas 0wnz.

I never play with people online unless its my friends. I like to build tough bases and see how my friends manage to siege it. But then I never get the time to do that with random strangers.

Well i always play 2 on 2, but latly i play the Custom games, like the Final Fantasy heros arena and the DragonballZ/GT game etc ohh and the LOTR games are quite cool, yeah i play alot……

When it comes to WCIII, I never play on bnet. Then again, I’ve only played it twice. Always seen Tim play in single player, but saw him once on Bnet. The only i’d play with other people is if I was at a LAN.

I find playing against people who I know from some place or the other more fun anyway then just a random match where I dun even know the people I am playing against.
Playing against some one is just more fun and it prevents the 12 year old AOL wannabe users from ‘you n00b, you suck’ and such other speech.

Indeed they do. You might find me in a hero arena, which is where up to two 6 man teams pick heroes from a HUGE roster, and battle it out in a free-roaming area with creeps and stores, with duels every few minutes between the team leaders with the highest kills. Team to get to the frag limit wins the match. Fun fun. 🙂

When WarCraft 3 first came out, a friend and I totally hated the hero concept (we both got used to it later). So I took in lots of maps and edited the game to play more like starcraft. Units costed much less food and resources, creeps weren’t there, shops, altars, all that hero junk. It was actually pretty interesting having a large army of units. Oh, and you could build zeppelins in your base. Tee hee

Yes, playing 1v1 or maybe 2v2 with people you know is always fun. Unfortunately, the people I know always whip my butt. ;__;

I hardly ever play RT anymore. It’s no fun. I get stuck with n00bs. last game I played a few weeks ago, all one guy did was build fucking farms, went miltia then said "I’m leaving" or something like that and left.

Cube D is the best Custom game out there. Tons of fun, except I hate when n00bs get a DH before level 10.(It causes a server split)

Tekno, I heard that Warforge was shutdown?? Is that true or is that BS?

BTW, I tried to play the Exp on Warforge but I kept getting disconnected.

I’ve discovered the trick to RT games. Never ever ever ever take them or your level seriously! HAHA!
