Anyone else get this, or is it just me? I constantly save, I’m always pressing at the quick save key. Every time I knock down a bad guy, or every time I go into a room, every time a level ends and starts… It gets me in trouble. I was playing (the awful) Lord Of The Rings game for PC. As I usually do, being a mad save-a-holic, I quick saved as I started my battle with Gandalf and the Balrog. Everything seemed ok, until I died. Fair enough, I re-loaded…. only to find I had saved just as the creature killed me. This was my only saved game. Horror, I had to start the game again (Which wasn’t that hard, cause the game sucks).

So, anyone else like this. Or am I all alone, am I going…. crazy?

Too right! I’m forever hitting "F5" whilst playing Morrowind. Not because I’m worried about getting killed by anything (my character’s a pretty hard dude, it’ll take a lot to shift him to the regions of the dead), but because my PC has this ANNOYING habit of just… Crashing… In the middle of the game. I use the quick save option as I’m moving from place to place, then use a more permanent save option when I reach the region I’m travelling to.

I’ve never had the problem of wiping over a save point and needing to re-start as a result. There was a story of a guy only using the quick save option as his only save game, installed a plug in and it corrupted the save. That would be REALLY irritating, especially with a game as extensive as Morrowind.

Yeah, I play that too, and that really would suck.
I suppose thats another reason I save a lot, games that crash.

Actually….. the game crashes and not the pc, there is a nasty bug in the game which tend to crash the game, I dont save much in Morrowind but then again, the rest option also includes autosave, so everytime I rest I also save my progress. I don’t catch myself saving constantly. I like the challenge of pushing myself.

I dont save often now because like you I had the tendency to save a little too much and I end up shooting myself on the foot because of it. I learned from that and I just use my commonsense to make my game saving decisions.

When I play any emulator’s, I would say I save too much.
Every min or so I hit the save state button…My friends even told me that i am a save fiend. Oh well, i’m always prepared =)

I am definitely a save-a-holic. I save sometimes twice on the same spot to make sure the save was succesful first time and on emulators my finger magicallyhits f2 everqy 5 sec. not good

I always open up 3 save files during the game. Just to make sure I don’t make a mistake of missing something vital and then making the game thougher for instance.

I’m a save a holic as well xD. Every boss battle, every new area the first thing I do is save.
In RTS/Stratagy games it’s even worse. Whenever I attack or after an attack (whenever I defeated the attacke) on my village I save and resave as soon as my new army is build up.

I usually make a mistake is saving as well, like saving on the wrong slot which makes sets me back a few hours or completly destroys my progress.

i bought that game, played it for all of 2 hours, and deleted it from my hard drive.

i kept getting caught by the damn nazgul in hobbiton.

good thing i’m not a ringbearer.

i usually have the opposite problem in games i play. i go for hours sometimes without saving, and then when i do die, and i find out my closest save is about 2 hours before i died, and i usually quit the game in frustration. no wonder i never beat most games i play.

Greetings.

I admit, I was a sav-a-holic. My SNES RPG’s, particulary Breath of Fire II, I would save whenever I saw a save point, and I’d make two save files, in case the first save got corrupted or accidentally deleted. Same with my PSX, PS2 and Dreamcast. I have about nine PSX memory cards, two PS2 memory cards and four Dreamcast VMU’s. For example, I have one memory card for the PSX which is devoted completely to FFVIII, another for FFVII, and the remainder’s have all my other games on them. Point being, when I was checking my memory cards the other day, I noticed I had four saves of Xenogears, on four different memory cards. Nothing much to worry about, until I noticed where the save was. All four had been saved AT THE EXACT SAME LOCATION! Suffice to say, I was surprised.

But, on the other hand, it does pay to save on a regular basis. For example, in any game I have (and I have a lot) I have a primary save and secondary save. The primary being the mainstream save spot, say moving from one location to another, fighting through a dungeon etc, etc, and the secondary is where I save before a Boss fight. Therefore, if I die during the Boss fight, I can come back straight away, and try a different strategy against it.

Basically, it falls down to your own preference. I prefer, for example any of my RPG’s, to have a primary and secondary save, so two saves per game.

Heh, I save a lot on video games because it’s better to be safe than sorry. I always save at good times too but that’s probably because I’m always restarting video games, lol =P

I used to never save on FF. which is bad. becuase I am so impatient sometimes. I would loss and say

"awwwwww, I should have saved when I could have." I don’t have that anymore. Trust me save-a-holics saving is worth it.

I tend to make multiple saves (this gets hard on a PS2 memory card, with limited memory, as some games take a lot of space).

yeah, i make a new save file per every save point o_o. Whenever i battle in RPG’s like ff7, even after 2 fights, i save just incase, cause experience is valuable, and you don’t want to loose any of the exp. you have gained from the battle, no matter how much experience it is. I did that alot on RPG’s like Breath of Fire 4 and Suikoden, and al the final fantasy’sand Shadow Hearts. AND Two Towers(great game).
